Joe Tralli and Bobby Dusconi of Croton-Harmon will be our special guests. Croton is taking on Bronxville for the Section 1 Class C title this weekend.

I know we’re at the peak of football season, but when will basketball posts start?
As usual, like most peekskill fans im anxious to get as far away from any football thoughts as possible and am ready take it to the court..
An early look at the schedule shows a Peekskill/Iona semifinal matchup in the newly structured Slam Dunk Tournament. Iona should be favored but maybe Brickhouse has a little more magic left.

  3. what's new

what is new with the slam dunk this year? usually they invite someone very good from upstae, a very good chsaa team or two, a good private and a good psal team . and always white plains…...what is different this year?

  4. Oh Baby...

Hoops talk !! Who are the teams to beat this year??

  5. rocket

Poughkeepsie Coach Ken Barger was selected at the MSG NY Giants Coach of the Week!

  6. Domination

Rye will be a solid team in basketball this year. They made the County Center for the second time in four years last year. But my pre season picks for the County Center Final fOur, will be Peekskill, Lakeland,Spring Valley and Rye. It will be a good season in Class A Section one this season.

  7. 10801

This is off topic but Tommy Pizzuro committed to kent state. His only other d1 offer was temple. Took a strange route to end up d1, but congrads to the kid for achieving his goal.

I just noticed that, rocket… Good to see Coach Barger received that recognition. he’s definitely got Poughkeepsie football headed in the right direction. You could say that PK always had all the necessary ingredients; all it needed was the right chef. Who knows, maybe the Poughkeepsie Journal will (finally) name Barger Coach of the Year…

  9. Thanks but No Thanks

Dear Mr. Bucks76 (you know who you are).....God I love it when I’m right!! For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, I refer to the post above by 10801 and the fact that I was 1,000 % correct for what I posted in July, and am now vindicated. Please let this serve as a lesson to all those that would come on here and shamelessly self-promote.

    Thanks buy No Thanks,
I hate to bust your bubble, yet both Kent State and Temple are 1A football schools. You in all those rambling diatribes that he wouldn’t get a 1A scholarship offer this year – if he’d been good enough you say, he would’ve gotten one last year. I don’t think were right at all, frankly you seem close to 100% wrong. It seems you owe an apology to the other guys you were insulting over the summer.

  11. slam dunk change

This is from the girls bball blog

The 2009 Slam Dunk tournament at the County Center will play host to four more girls teams and four more girls games, thanks, in part, to a schedule expanded from three days to four. The girls — and now the boys — will be divided into two four-team tournaments with semifinals, finals and consolation rounds. The event will still include one non-tournament challenge game as well.

so instead of one tournament with 3 rounds its two different 4 team tournaments.. No idea who the other teams involved are however

  12. Thanks but No Thanks

Hey Hoops Fan, I love to burst your bubble, but obviously reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Kevin wrote the kid was hoping that “After a prep year at Hargrave Military Academy, the 315-pound tackle should get offers from the elite programs — Tennessee, Penn State, Auburn, and Boston College to name a few who are already interested.” I wrote that there was no way a year at Hargrave was going to get that done, that the kid was a scholarship player, but NO WHERE NEAR the level of those programs, and a year at Hargrave wasn’t going to change that. Here’s what I wrote:

“Sir, with all due respect, a bunch of people that sound very knowledgeable and have always been very respected posters have come on here and exposed your son for what he is. A good high school player that isn’t good enough for the big time, but good enough to be one of the few that get a scholarship to play football in college. Why isn’t that enough for you? Why do you have to live through your son and make him bigger than he has to be? Do some research for christ sake, and you’ll see it’s a tremendous honor just to be considered good enough to get a scholarship. Why do you have to make him out bigger than he is, pump him up as this super player, when he is not. Or, just let time do the talking. If he’s really that good he will get the offers he seeks, and all is good.”

And, I am happy to let you know (since your obviously not intelligent enough to see it on your own, I was 1,000,000 % correct on what I was saying). Like I said before, please let this serve as a warning to all the parents out there trying to live through their kids, and let it go. It’s over. Stop coming on this blog to promote your sons. Let his play do the talking!!!
