Weekend recap
-
- November
- 2
Let’s run through the best of last weekend’s non-playoff games:
Edgemont 27, Ardsley 8: Edgemont closes a disappointing season on a solid note. Brendan Connolly scored three touchdowns for the Panthers, who bring back the core this year’s team. This year, although frustrating, should serve them well as they make another run towards contention in Class B.
Spring Valley 20, Panas 17: Although this game didn’t mean much to the outsider, it was an important win for the Tigers, who finish the season 5-3. It was truly a turn-around year at Spring Valley, which has struggled in recent seasons. The Tigers gutted out the win, rallying in the fourth quarter as Geraldo Cetoute broke a 70-yard touchdown run for the winning score.
Hackley 27, St. Luke’s 7: The Hornets get back on track after a difficult couple of weeks. Adam Parker ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns for Hackley. A championship is probably out of the question as long as KLHT is still intact. But the Hornets could put together a few more wins and position themselves for a run in the postseason.
Ossining 21, Fox Lane 7: Apparently the game wasn’t as close as the score indicates. The Foxes got yards but they couldn’t make their way into the end zone after the first quarter as the Ossining defense made the stops it needed throughout. Lemar Johnson ran for 133 yards and threw for 65, and Matt Laccett rushed for 137 yards and two scores on 22 carries in the win. Tim Muller had 22 tackles for the Foxes. Ossining gets Somers in a bowl game on Friday.
Somers 27, Nyack 0: Not the best few weeks for the Indians, who end the years losers of four of five. Credit the Tuskers for swallowing the bitter taste of losing to Poughkeepsie by putting forth a strong effort here. Matt Deiana led the way, rushing for 164 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. He also had 10 tackles and a sack.
Eastchester 12, Horace Greeley 7: The Eagles shut down Greeley to advance in the Class A bowl playoffs. They’ll get an eagerly-awaited rematch with Harrison in what will be certainly be one of the most intense games of the weekend. Eastchester deserves credit for how its responded since losing to Roosevelt and being denied a playoff berth. If they can avenge that loss to Harrison, the season won’t be a total loss.
Harrison 28, Yorktown 7: The Huskies beat a Yorktown team without its starting quarterback to play one more week. Steven Ricciardi scored twice for Harrison, which has been one of the most productive running teams in Section 1 this season. It will have to open it up a little more against Eastchester, which coughed the ball up seven times in the first meeting, a one-point Harrison win.
Yonkers 20, Dover 0: Josh Grant rushed for 150 yards and scored two touchdowns to end his high school football career on a positive note. Grant started the year at Gorton but was forced to return to Yonkers because he apparently violated Section 1’s transfer rules. Yonkers won two of the three games Grant played after going winless last season and up until his return. Grant hopes to play football in college.
Iona Prep 35, Farrell 0: This is just what the Gaels needed going into the playoffs. They’re healthy now that Jeff Mack is back and they’re clicking on both sides of the ball. Mack ran for 140 yards and four touchdowns and Tyrae Woodson-Samuels had his second straight 300-yard passing game, going 20 for 27 for 301 yards and a touchdown.
Mount Vernon 32, Carmel 14: Really didn’t see this one coming. When I saw the score, though, it reminded me of past years with Mount Vernon, which has won some big games in the non-playoff bowl season. Don’t be shocked if Mount Vernon goes up and gives Arlington a great game on Friday, if not wins.
John Jay 42, Scarsdale 32: This one seems like a wild game where both teams filled the stat sheet. Jameson Pickel was at his best. The John Jay quarterback ran for 183 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries and completed 18 of 27 for 143 yards and two scores. Ben Spiegelman ran for 102 yards and three touchdowns for Scarsdale, and Matt Wheeler caught seven passes for 131 yards.
Stepinac 17, St. John’s the Baptist 14: The Crusaders end the regular season 8-0 for the first time in school history. Caleb Gilligan-Evans ran for 124 yards and a touchdown as Stepinac survived late. The Crusaders have a tough road to a AA Division title since it will likely have to beat two AAA teams that dropped down for the postseason.
Class C League 3 Semifinals
Valhalla 28, Woodlands 8: The Vikings improved to 7-1 and have lost only to unbeaten Bronxville in the regular-season opener. John Meaney scored three touchdowns, including two in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach. Valhalla will host Blind Brook in the final.
Blind Brook 40, Pawling 36: It won’t get nearly the attention but this was actually one of the best games of the year. Pawling trailed 34-16 entering the fourth quarter before scoring 22 straight points to take the lead. Kyle Hollander, though, scored the winning touchdown with 15 seconds left on a 1-yard plunge. He had 13 yards rushing and two scores, and Mike Tomasulo rushed for 265 yards and scored four touchdowns.
Other games: Mamaroneck edged Lincoln 7-6 on a late touchdown by Dean Chiapparelli on a pass from Henry Millette. … Pearl River outlasted Brewster, 16-6. … Clarkstown South pounded Gorton 34-0 for its second win. … Clarkstown North finally got past Ramapo after two near misses, winning 14-0. … Hen Hud beat Port Chester 6-0. … Ketcham routed Mahopac 25-7. … John Jay-EF beat Suffern 42-6 as Suffern star Anthony DiMarsico didn’t play because of injury. … Lourdes beat Irvington 31-6. … Rye Neck defeated Putnam Valle 41-22. … Byram Hills got a pair of fourth quarter touchdown runs from Eric Mainthrow and beat Westlake 21-16. … KLHT pounded Rye Country Day 36-14. … Briarcliff beat Pelham 30-7. …

OK, IF NewRo is playing in the state, could Rye play Iona Prep on Thanksgiving?
great question. Iona definitely could, regardless of how deep into the playoffs they go. Its just a matter of if Rye could?
Kevin,
you really need to see KLHT play. Their backfield is THE best in the tri-state area, and possibly the country. The line is huge, the defense swarms to the ball, they’d beat most if not all section 1 teams.
Rye on Thanksgiving is a silly idea. Rye has a number of players on the football team which play a Winter sport. I don’t believe anyone on the team has an interest in continuing to practice to play in a meaningless game on Thanksgiving. There is no tradition or meaning in this game to the Rye team.
RYE SHOULD PLAY IONA ON THANKGIVING DAY ….AND IONA WOULD LOOSE ANOTHER GAME BY 48 POINTS…AND STILL BE RANKED
Big Joe,
HA! If you really believe that I’ve got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn
BIG JOE
I thought you had a heart attack or is that your simpleton son speaking again under your screen name.
Just go watch Harrison play a NON -PLAYOFF game while Iona will be preparing for a Playoff game.
IONA POWER…DID YOU SAY THAT IONA IS IN THE PLAY-OFFS WOW, THAT RESEMBLES THE LEAGUE THAT TUCKAHOE IS IN…PLEASE EXCUSS MY DEROGATORIES VS IONA…IT IS REALLY AGAINST KEVINS CONSTANT RATING OF IONA EVEN AFTER THEY WERE KILLED BY OPPONENTS SCORING 48 POINTS…MY OPINION ABOUT HARRISON VS. EASTCHESTER GAME RESOLVES BY WITNESSING THE PARTICIPATION OF THEIR FANS…EVERY TIME I VISITED EASTCHESTER GAME AT EASTCHESTER I ADMIRED THE SUPPORT OF THEIR FANS ...WHICH IS SIMILAR TO HARRISON FANS..THE GAME WILL DRAW A LARGE CROWD..THIS IS ANOTHER TYPE OF OBSERVATIONS THAT I MAKE BESIDES WATCHING THE GAME
Big Joe,
I do think Harrison/Eastchester will be a good one – maybe a preview of a playoff game next year.
But when you write things like Iona losing to Rye by 48 points you lose whatever speck of credibility you once had. Iona lost 5 games this year – 3-4 in their league. Those 5 losses were to teams that no one in Section 1 could beat. New Rochelle is probably the only team that could hang with any of those five teams. Definitely not Rye or Harrison. So instead of making ignorant comments about Iona, why don’t you focus of making observant comments about Harrison and Eastchester.
Hoops Fan
Big Joe and Husky 92 have zero credibility. I guess he did not see the ESPN rankings and MSG rankings that have 3 CHSFL AAA teams in the top ten tri state rankings.
Ionapower,
You’re right, Big Joe and Husky 92 apparently are only aware of what happens in the towns of Harrison, Rye and Eastchester. There’s nothing wrong with that if they kept their comments limited to those three teams, but why make ridiculous comments about other teams they know nothing about?
Harrison/Eastchester is an intriguing non-playoff matchup, (as is Ossining/Somers) but I don’t necessarily see it as a preview of next year. I know Bonner is already gone, but aren’t Eastchester’s O and D lines gone for the most part next year? I like Harrison in a close one. The more opportunity this team gets to play together, the stronger the foundation for what a lot of us hope to be a very successful 2010. Not to put TOO much pressure on a group of teenage kids, though….....
can brandon richards #22 of nyack be all section in section 1?
THEMAN
Don’t think so. Not fast enough. Likely will play QB in his senior year.
Big Joe – Did you notice that noone else writes their entire message in CAPS? A whole season has gone by and still noone has told you that it is impolite in emails and on blogs to write in CAPS. Writing in CAPS is how you let people know you are YELLING! Have you YELLING all year?
Why does your son Husky 92 continue to blog? We thought he would go away along with his inappropriate comments.
Big Joe – Its simple – when you embrace a new technology, adopt the etiquette that goes along with it.
TALK ABOUT SPLITTING HAIRS! IF THAT IS BIG JOE (AND NOT HIS SON POSTING UNDER HIS NAME) THE FACT THAT HE’S USING THIS “TECHNOLOGY” SHOULD BE ENOUGH. I DON’T GET THAT ANYONE SHOULD BE OFFENDED BY THIS. “HIS” POSTS ARE NEVER MEANT TO OFFEND, EITHER.
i think the harrison-eastchester game will be a good one. i was at the jv game last night against greely and i can tell you that like many other schools in the section they have a good group of kids coming up. they ran and passed…yes passed all over greely. i believe that the varsity oc was there and hopefuuly he will stick a few of the pass plays in his book for this weekend vs harrison.
the iona guys are killing me! you made the playoffs with a 3-4 record…thats great!!! iona is going to be teed up like a titleist this weekend. the thing you seem to forget is that most of these kids come from section 1 schools and would be good to average players on most of their school teams. you guys should get a shot of reality with your h1n1 shot.
Somers will come out pumped for their next game, to salvage a season that should have went at least 2 more games.pok is real good. wow tell us something we didnt know.if pok wins the section, that will be the 3rd year the team that beat somers in the playoffs won the section.good and bad for somers. thats a heavy monkey on are backs. go tuskers
Hey Kevin,
I know you loved to get your predictions 100% on the nail right but Scarsdale lost by nine in a close game to John Jay, not ten. You don’t give those boys enough credit and base your opinions on a broken hearted effort against power house White Plains. You going to predict them to lose again to Clarkstown South? Do it please, I bet i’d make them happy that there whole season went under the radar unnoticed
Iona has 5 losses but they were to great teams…you look at the Top 8 that in AAA playoffs and they’re all around .500…its those 1 wins and 0 wins that drop down to AA and take on the Crusaders is what makes the league look bad.
if the League 3 is really having playoffs…does the winner receive a trophy or something? b/c that would be great; they DO win something, maybe not a sectional title and state playoffs but to go through the league and play a few c/d a&b league teams and play for the league 3 title is still something out of nothing.
Ben Spiegelman,
Are you kidding????????????They lost to Mahopac and JJCR the last place finishers in AA North…who else did they play of consequence??You sound like a parent?
Rye v Iona on Thanksgiving is a great idea. That should reduce next years blog traffic by 50%.
nyackfan
who do you feel was a better d end than him he made alot of plays throughout the season i feel was a huge threat on that defense with ellijah sorel
DutchessFBfan
did you see what kevin wrote about your darling arlington. I agree with the later A Win!!!!!!
Big Joe keep doing what you do. What’s pathetic is people attacking you for a joke. Hoops Fan get a life. Your constant defending of Iona Prep is lame. You are constantly ridiculed for being a long winded annoyance. Does that count as credibility?
i dont know who posted a comment using my name but this is the real ben spiegelman.
Big Joe rules,
If the six lines I wrote in regards to Big Joe’s comment above are too “long winded” for you, then you’re probably A) in 2nd grade or B) in dire need of Hooked on Phonics
LEAVE BIG JOE ALONE. HE KNOWS HOW TO USE THE TECHNOLOGY. WE SCHOOLED HIM ABOUT SHOUTING LAST YEAR. HE LIKE TO USE ALL CAPS. MAYBE THE MAN HAS A VISION PROBLEM. SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR YOUR ELDERS YOU LITTLE SPOILED A$$ BRAT.
As for Harrison-Eastchester being a preview of next years sectional final, just hold on a minute. It will never happen, Eastchester will never win a big playoff game. Never have never will.
Eagle fan, don’t reply, win first talk later.
Hoops fan and Iona Power, please just go start your own chat room somewhere about Iona, you are putting us all to sleep.
ChiefWildEagle,
I’ve liked many of your insightful posts in the past, so I won’t judge you on this one above. But you obviously didn’t read all the posts above before you commented. Neither IonaPower or I started commenting on Iona or Stepinac – which by the way would be fine if we did – we both responded to an idiotic comment from Big Joe. If someone makes an idiotic comment – and particularly an intentionally idiotic comment on this blog, they should expect a response. There are far, far more negative comments from Section 1 bloggers who love to hate Iona Prep than neutral or positive comments about Iona Prep from its fans. If you’d like to reduce the # of comments about Iona Prep, convince some of the clueless minority of section 1 fans not to comment about Iona.
If you haven’t noticed, Stepinac is the #2 team in Kevin’s top 10. Iona is a top 10 even with injuries, with a full squad they are definitely Top 5, probably better. It seems awfully close-minded of you not to want to hear people comment about two of the best programs around.
As for Eastchester, you may be right about next year. Apparently you are right about them never winning a big playoff game. There are always firsts though. I guess going into next year Rye and Harrison would be the favorites in Class A, though I’m not an expert.
Looks like Iona will have to hit the recruiting trail a little harder for next year. A six loss regular season is getting awefully close to disgrace regardless of the schedule.
HEY GUYS, YOU DO NOT KNOW MY PERSONALITY ,...I JOKE ALOT WITH REDICULOUS COMMENTS TO GET SOME PEOPLE RILED UP.LIKE IONA POWER AND HOOP FAN…SIMILAR TO MY COMMENT LAST YEAR WHEN I POSTED THAT RYE WAS SO GOOD THEY WOULD BEAT THE N.Y. GAINTS….SERIOUSLY , I THINK THAT THE RYE VS. IONA , WOULD BE A GOOD CLOSE GAME….BLOGS SHOULD BE FUN WITH GOOD AND BAD COMMENTS ONLY THOSE SERIOUS AND NIEVE BLOGERS GET UPSET….......P.S I USE CAPS BECAUSE I SEE IT BETTER AND I NEVER YELL
Big Joe,
If you meant it as a joke, which it certainly was – then no problem. I think you realize on this blog, pro or anti-Iona comments are going to draw a quick response and have a little less room for thinly veiled humor than other topics because of all the vitriol.
As far as the caps, write however you like – its nobodies business but your own, particularly if it helps you see better. I do like your comments and your enthusiasm for Harrison. I think the Huskies will compete for the A title next year.
Publics
I guess a lot of players view Iona Prep as an attractive destination!!!!!! After all the school has won Championships in Football, Basketball, Hockey and Track over the last 2 years.
Hoops joke mix in a clue. Let’s all applaud you because you finally wrote a short post!!!The majority of your entries are long winded and flat out annoying. Your know it all approach is a bore and your comebacks are worse. Big Joe has a personality that is well liked on the blog. Only clowns like you feel the need to attack him. If you didn’t see his comment as a joke then your reading comprehension skills are weak.
The Harrison
vsEastchester is going to be a great game this weekend. Harrison has proved to everyone the luck wasnt on their side for the roosevelt and Rye game, but as they moved along they have gotten stronger and better never mind the kids that carry the ball They always get the right up what about the line the defensive line you have alvora bonistall vaccaro, making all the plays these guys are players and have the taste for the game, Unfortunately its the boys last game and can actually go out 7-2 but its all about the sections on this thing you have players on the huskie team that have the feel and taste of this game. NEVER MIND IONA RYE TURKEY BOWL I WOULD CONSIDER HARRISON RYE ONE MORE TIME>>>>Big Joe rules,
I like Big Joe. I’ve said so on many blogs, including this one above. However, both Big Joe and Husky 92 are prone to making ridiculous and insulting comments once in awhile – Big Joe said above that he does it intentionally to get a response sometimes. I’m sure it is part of their personalities, but it doesn’t mean if someone makes an insulting or ridiculous comment others won’t object. Besides, nothing I said to Big Joe was particularly insulting – I offered to sell him a bridge in Brooklyn if he really thought Rye would beat Iona by 48…for someone in the construction/contracting trades like himself it may be of interest.
If you’re a Harrison fan, do you have anything positive to say about this week’s game or do you just like saying negative things to me like a teenager?
Hoops fan
Dont’t waste your time with some of these simpletons on this blog- I believe Kevin was right when he expressed his concerns over what these blogs have become. I laugh now at these haters.
COULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY IONA FANS ARE SO SENSITIVE ARE THEY ALL IRISH WHO FIGHT AT EVER WEDDING ( now that another joke).....look at this blog as fun, as most of us do
Iona Power seriously get over yourself. The fact that you decided to express a negative comment towards Big Joe’s joke is comical. Your response was very immature. Wow Iona has a playoff game. Yeah, nice record..oh wait they played a better schedule than the University of Miami so they deserve it…please.
I am not going to put you in the same category as Hoops joke because bloggers actually read what you have to say. Hoops fan your posts are mind numbing and lame. No need to discuss Harrison football with an Iona Prep wanna be.
Big Joe rules,
You obviously don’t read many blogs because I’m not an Iona Prep supporter. If someone makes an ignorant, insulting comment toward any school I’d object. I’ve done it often on this blog not because of my affection for Iona, but just as a matter of right/wrong. I’ve done the same thing several times in recent days towards hallucinatory Rye fans who have made absurd comments after their loss to Pok, that take away from Pok’s team/players. It has little to do with Iona or Poughkeepsie, just simple decency.
Go back and read Big Joe’s initial comment and see exactly where you find a hint of a joke. Then read his second comment where he says he says ridiculous things intentionally just to get a rise out of Ionapower and I. I’m a good sport, I don’t mind him making outlandish comments in a stab at humor (he does say a lot of things I think are hilarious), but he also doesn’t mind my response or else he wouldn’t make the comments in the first place. Big Joe is a grown man, let him speak for himself. He didn’t object to my response or IonaPower’s response and he said himself he did it intentionally – he’s a good sport too. No harm, no foul, until you but in making negative comments from left field.
You want to call someone else “immature”? Re-read a few of your very mature comments before you go tossing around an adjective like that.
Big Joe,
Your joke about Irish guys fighting at weddings – now that was funny. I don’t think of Iona Prep being all Irish guys – at least it used to be largely Italian, but maybe its more diverse these days.
I look at this blog as fun too and I don’t take most things too seriously. I don’t think Iona fans were nearly as sensitive at the beginning of the year as they may be now. There has been such a barrage of anti-Iona nonsense on the blog it would make even the most thick-skinned fan a little senstive. I’m not even an Iona fan and I’ve gotten sensitive to all the non-sense. Your jokes on their own wouldn’t ellicit much of a negative response, but combined with all the other anti-Iona nonsense they could get viewed in a more negative and less joking way.
BIG JOE
I am Italian- My wife is Puerto Rican
We have two kids- The Italiian and Puerto Rican blood has made them very expressive. LOl
How about you go back and re-read what I wrote and tell me where it says I said you are an Iona supporter. I said you were a wanna be.. totally different. We all know you are a Stepinac fan. So do us a favor and take your own advice. Let Iona fans speak on behalf of their team and you talk about your team. Big Joe can handle it, but your typical know it all BS is frustrating so I felt the need to comment just like you feel the need to comment on every single topic on the blog!
The blog doesn’t need to hear you defend a team you really have no rooting interest in. Oh and who annonted you the disgruntled fan police? A blog is allowed to multiple personalities. If Kevin only had people like you…well there would be no blog or people writing. Mainly because everyone would be sleeping.
Big Joe rules,
Sorry for misreading your elegant prose. Inexcusable on my part, really.
“A blog is allowed multiple personalities” – sure, but that sounds a little imbalanced, no? You’re “allowed” to walk through the Galleria mall in your underwear with a purple bathroom tied around your waist – though I don’t think it would be advisable. I keep the same screenname on all my posts because I have nothing to hide and prefer to be consistent in all my comments, rather than hiding behind multiple names like you. Someone who obviously uses multiple screennames and changes them by the topic without even saying who you’re rooting for is a little suspect to me. Wouldn’t you agree?
IonaPower,
very funny stuff
No I wouldn’t agree with anything you wrote.. mainly because as usual it is unfunny and dumb. I READ the blogs as oppose to writing on them. But what provoked me to comment was your lack of comprehension when it came to Big Joe’s joke. Big Joe is an old school fan with a great sense of humor. Seeing arrogant know it alls like you critique him is what got to me.
You get called out constantly and you should. Keep thinking the dribble you spew on a blog is respected and intelligent. In reality it is nothing more than long winded rhetoric that only you enjoy.
AMEN to Big Joe rules!!!!!
Big Joe rules,
No one wants to be respected by people like you. Four simple questions:
1) what are your other “aliases”?
2) what team do you root for?
3) do you have a hard time understanding that Big Joe said he makes those type of comments purposely to get a response? If he does it purposely to get a response, he had no problem with my response and he’s never said he did had a problem.
4) what exactly did I write that was “dumb” and what did you disagre with?
I love guys like you who come on here and all they can muster is that someone is “dumb” or a team is “terrible” or a program in an “embarrassment”. They have no knowledge of what they talk about and no empirical evidence to back up their statements, just a great vocabulary that is highlighted by the word “dumb”.
Big Joe rules,
We do agree on one thing. I’m not funny. Never have been and likely never will be. Though at least I understand that and don’t think I’m a comedian.
As I have seen before, getting into a discussion or annoyance with you will never end until you get the last word in. So this will be my last post.
As expected your response was again unfunny and an attempt to be snide, bright and creative. It failed…
Obviously my team is Harrison as I am in a thread about Big Joe. See that is what you should do, comment on things about your team or community, not just on everything. But you are a guy who feels the need to be heard..
In the end I am glad a blog makes you feel important. Your constant rambling is awful and only m akes you feel good. See you around hoops joke. Your make me ill.
Thats some funny sh%#$, big Joe is back!! I love how you all mention my name even when Im not on here, ahh you guys love me.. If Iona Prep played Rye, It would be called The Khaki Pennyloafer Bowl!! Or rich kids with no brains bowl! I Luv it!! People on this blog are starting to have a sense of humor again, this blog is finally funny again. Good Luck to all your teams this week. Go Huskies..
IonaPower, I love that you are back on the blog with your team at 3-4. I see after Iona winning finally, you sails are at full strength and you a talking like your team is undefeated. Honestly , Id rather go to bingo w/ ,my great grandmother then to hear you talk about how great Iona is. They were BLOWN out of there own league against teams they beat last year. Maybe last year was a fluke??
Big Joe rules,
Have you noticed in this entire blog, you said nothing positive about Harrison or their team or their community? You just make negative comments toward me in a mini-discussion between Big Joe and I. I assumed you supported Harrison, but not by anything insightful or positive you said regarding the Huskies.
I comment on things I find interesting. I find most AA and A football in Section 1, the CHSFL and the other best teams in the tri-state area interesting. I’m not going to apologize for having a broad range of interests when it comes to HS football. Frankly, I think a large part of the problem with some Section 1 fans (only the minority of the angry variety) is that they are xenophobic and don’t like hearing about Stepinac or Iona because they are outside of their comfort zone/town limits and god forbid someone discusses a regional topic like the jersey powers of the CHSAA basketball league. People who only have an interest in their town or team and don’t like hearing other people’s opinion are what is wrong with this blog or any blog. You can support your team, but don’t expect everyone else to be so closeminded.
Husky 92,
very good joke about the Khaki Pennyloafer Bowl – I think some of us, me included, get too sensitive at times. That is clearly good satire.
But don’t get carried away. 1) IonaPower has never left the blog. Plenty of other Iona fans have – IonaPower has been consistent all year and has taken the brunt of the backlash over their poor start and never made excuses when he could’ve played up their injuries to their two stars.
and 2) IonaPower didn’t in any way say how great Iona is. I don’t what post you were reading. What he said is correct, with a healthy team that they had last week, no one is going to be happy facing them in the playoffs. Any team that can score 40 is a difficult out in the playoffs.
I always use my name, im not a faceless coward. If i use big joe name i will admit right to it, ive made a mistake. But, some of you on here use multiple names and make it sound and look like a bunch of people are agreeing w/ you. Im not one of those jerks!! I always use Husky 92 (for president). Husky 92 Rules LOL.
Big Joe,
Im one of those Irish guys…wanna fight???LOL
all i did was say rye 48 iona -0-and i became the talk of the blog isnt that pathetic , to pick on a small sentence and bash me ..GOOD LUCK EVERYONE THIS WEEK GOD LOVE YA
Iona Baby! were Italian. We should be the fighting Italians
Husky 92 or Big Joe or whoever is posting
I have been here all year and will continue right through the basketball season as Iona defends their basketball City Championship -
iona is back and better then ever there going in to the playoffs with a sickness no team is going to want to play these guys after this weekend. and iona 1on 3 state champsionships last year .. football basketball and lacrosse andover the past 2 years they have won 4 state championships football, basketball lax and hockey. how many schools can say that they have won 3 state championships in 1 year really ? this schools is probly the most athletic school in the state
ip,
Lets not get ahead of yourself. Iona is still 3-5 at the moment. Not really an opportune time for bragging.
For all of you talking about the best non-playoff matchup it is Harrison vs Eastchester. This is a rematch of a one point loss for eastchester this season, and a game of revenge for harrison for eastchester beating them 2 years in a row going into this season. For those saying this is a playoff matchup last year, you might need to think again. Eastchester is losing their entire starting defense except for 1 player. And losing their entire offensive line. While Harrison will be a very good team next year because of the experience for all those young guys this year. But best of luck to Eastchester next year and hope you will make it to a playoff game next year. And to this years eastchester team.. kick Harrisons ass this saturday to end the season off the right way!
did someone post that IONA is 3 and 5 and going into the playoffs, that is a great league, its like little league ,where all player must play in the game. Didnt tuckahoe go to SYRACUSE one year with a 5-3 record ???I like that bloger who is ITALIAN and married a PUERTO RICAN—I HAVE A FRIEND WHO IS HALF ITALIAN AND HALF INDIAN …he is a SU-SILIAN , I have another friend who is half JEWISH and half POLISH….HE IS A JANITOR BUT HE OWNS THE BUILDING..AS YOU KNOW, I HAVE A LOT OF FRIENDS
THEMAN
RE: “who do you feel was a better d end than him he made alot of plays throughout the season i feel was a huge threat on that defense with ellijah sorel”
Huge threat? Maybe not. But a good player, sure. The reference to “speed” is he was not fast enough to succeed significantly at any of the running back positions, so was shifted outside to wide receiver, but was never a real speed threat as Nyack does not throw much. If he excels at QB (which is severely open to question) he may potentially be Section 1, but I do not think he can dominate like when Nichols was on his game. Best bet for Sec. 1 IMO from Nyack is Donnie Davis, and as we know, there is only one chosen from each team…unless you are NewRo or Rye
.
The Hackley vs St. Luke’s score was actually 27-0.
