Off to Rome

July
30

This Jonny McGhee situation has finally gotten to me. I’m fleeing the country.

OK, well that’s not really true. But I am going tonight to Italy for 14 days. I’m leaving tonight, flying into Rome and spending the trip touring the Amalfi Coast. It will be my first trip to Italy but not my first tour of Europe. I went to Spain when I was in high school and to England and Ireland in college.

Don’t fear, Josh Thomson of The Journal News will be at New Rochelle for Champions Camp on Monday and will have an update on the blog at night. Obviously, I know I can count on you all to provide daily updates of what’s going on. I’ll also have football-related articles running in the paper every Monday until I get back.

I’ll try to check in throughout my trip. Don’t worry, I’ll be back well in time for the first day of practice. My flight is at 9:55 tonight. It’s 3 p.m. now, which leaves me just enough time to pack, get a haircut, mow the lawn, grab a bite and write a few stories.

  1. 3 Yards And A Cloud Of Dust

Since you will be away, you can ponder my preseason playoff selections for AA:

Division Winners: North Rockland / Carmel / New Rochelle
2nd Place: Ramapo / JJEF / White Plains
3rd Place: Mt. Vernon / Clarkstown North (Call Vegas, the upset special)

    OK bloggers…Fire away.

Enjoy italy its a an awesome country. Just be ez on the salty meats and wine you will cramp up and have ankles like pregnant women

  3. Just a Fact

Does Clarkstown North have any shot of beating South this year. I keep reading how North is improving each year, but it is the same ole bull sh$$, ” we are young but we are building”. What the hell does that mean when you say it year after year?

  4. Rams

My brothers pop warner team could beat South this year.

  5. 10960

Who’s the QB for clarkstown south?? They were dangerous with T.J. Kilcarr running that spread offense with Antoin McGuill at the Flank.

I remember the controversial game against North Rockland. I remember them beating and starting the downfall of an undefeated Ramapo team that was ranked number 2 in the state at the time carried by Obi Ezemma and highley touted QB Ike Illegbu.

With a good QB and good wideout, they can be dangerous with that spread offense. Who does South have??

  6. Just a Fact

Though I am curious about South as well, above spoke about North sneaking up on people this year. One question. When is the last time they beat South? I am skepticle about North this year because it always sounds like the same old story at North. Watch they will be 3-4 and you will hear the coach say “we have a young team but we have been doing some positive things….” I am just saying it is getting a little old. It is time to put the money on the table and start winning or at the least stop making excuses for the losses.

  7. Rams

South’s QB this year is TJ Kilcarr’s younger brother Patrick. He is not as talented as his brother but he has a pretty good arm. He doesn’t have enough talent around him this year to compete.

  8. Not Kieth Fagan

10960 Did you see that bush move ? Be careful

  9. 10960

LOL I have my doors locked

  10. Franco's 624-CUTS

    RAMS

SOUTH HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH TO BEAT NORTH
CAPT Burke (GREAT LEADER), Patrick Kilcarr(great arm),Laquon Bradley(great juking skills) Eric Eichenholtz(great lanky Wideout) ,Bryan Greig ,(Great LB) and this years secret wepon BAKER who ha s the potential to be as big as (DEPool) NOW the o line is older JR’s,who will be evenbetter in 2010

    P.Super SULLA

  11. GO AWAY FRANCO

South will have a tough time winning a game this year.

    Kevin,

I met Bradi this morning and she said to say hello to you and Jamie. All is well and she is anxious to see the two of you in two weeks. Have a great time…

  15. westchester fan

I know this is a football post but i think that the westchester hawks aau team should be congratulated on their performance in nationals this year. The westchester hawks consist of 9 players from section 1 and they finished 4th in the nation

  16. Hoops fan

    westchester fan,
Can you tell of some of the local players that played for this Westchester Hawks team and who played well at the AAU Nationals?

  17. Basketball

The Westchester Hawks 17u were knocked out in the round of 16. Not quite 4th place in the nation but still very good. The NY Gauchos beat the Houston team that knocked the Hawks out in the quarterfinals and then lost to All Ohio Red in the semi finals. The Gauchos won the consolation game against the other semifinal loser to finish 3rd in the nation.

  18. westchester fan

Im talking about the Westchester Hawks 16u that were 4th in the nation. The local players include jabari hinds, pj torres, conroy baltimore, adam honig, matt townsend, shane martinez, kenny bradshaw, malik atkins and devauhn henry.
I can see each of these players being standouts for next season.

  19. Hoops fan

    westchester fan,
who starts on the Hawks 16U team?

  20. fan

kev lets be honest, you never mowed a lawn in your life!!!

  21. westchester fan

The westchester hawks also had matt townsend as well.

  22. fann

North Rockland will be playing New Ro friday in the New Ro basketball summer league for the championship

  23. INFO:
