Congrats to Reuben and his family. This is a great accomplishment. Seriously Ionaprep crazed, why on earth would you come into this thread and attempt to down play what this young man has accomplished? Who cares about the comparison of your players to Reuben Frank. LI Football makes great points. The best example I can come up with is a kid from Tappan Zee from the late 1970’s who could not get a sniff from any major college program. So he sent in his game tapes himself, went to each college he was interested in by himself, talked to the coaches, worked out for them live. Syracuse gave him a shot as a walk on. He went on to an 11 year pro football career. His name is Blaise Winter. Also, there are some exteremely good D2 and D3 programs. Look at Cortland, a great D3 prgram with a lot of section 1 kids on the team. They are talking a D3 championship for this comming season.

How many guys each year from Westchester get D-1 A looks. Maybe 2 on a good year ! Sometimes none. Highlight film might get coaches interested , but really does not mean squat. They want to see full games. They want to see them run.

Then they do a visual. That is where it ends for most kids. To small, arms are to short, hands are small, feet are pointed out- you are done. That is the truth unfortunately.

I have seen kids who where great HS players not even get further than the visual.

College coaches are looking at potential. More importantly they are looking to keep there jobs by bringing in kids with an upside. That is why there is D-1, 1AA, D-2 & D-3. I saw Frank walking around at Lineman challenge- he is a beast[ Great looking kid who was intense]. Congratulations to him & his coaches & family on signing with an up & coming U Conn program. It is great to see local kids do well & local schools doing well with local talent.
Don’t be suprised when some of these big name kids end up D-2 or D -3 it is still very good football.

I definitely didn’t see this coming; congratulations to Reuben Frank on becoming the second Poughkeepsie linebacker in this decade to earn a D-1A/FBS football scholarship (Matt Featherson of Texas A&M was the first)...
