OFFICIAL Super 11 nominees
-
- June
- 22
Many of you have provided your own predictions and analysis. Now, here’s the real thing.
The Super 11 nominees, broken down by category as I’ve done in the past. They’re all rather self-explanatory. If something doesn’t make sense, or you feel I’ve left somebody out, please drop me a line.
THE LOCKS
Guys who are pretty much assured a spot barring something unforeseen
Tyrae Woodson-Samuels, Iona Prep: The reigning Journal News player of the year is coming off a jaw-dropping season at quarterback.
Jeff Mack, Iona Prep: The running back could have easily been the POY over Woodson-Samuels last season. His 400-yard rushing effort in the CHSFL final was legendary.
HEAVY FAVORITES
Players who are in good position to nab a spot, but aren’t guaranteed
Ryan Shilling, Carmel: A third-year starter at quarterback, Shilling took the Rams to the Class AA final last season. His numbers the last two seasons stack up are better than anyone in Section 1.
Sal Sulla, North Rockland: Came out of nowhere to have a breakout season at fullback. The offense will be more tailored to him this season.
Devonte Brailsford, Dobbs Ferry: A Super 11 selection last season, Brailsford is in his fifth varsity season. He’s getting serious Division I looks.
Gary Acquah, Mount St. Michael: Completely unblockable on the defensive line. A major Division I recruit.
Dakota Degree, Ossining: The best offensive lineman in the section, and perhaps the most intimidating player around on D.
THE UPPER HALF
Players who must have good summers to assure spots
Cole McCormack, Rye: Total beast in the backfield. If he was in a one-back offense, he’d top 1,500 yards without a problem.
Connor Eck, Rye: Great QB and a state champ.
Matt Deiana, Somers: When healthy, he’s a fast and rugged back and is just as good a defender.
Lou DiRienzo, New Rochelle: As smart of a linebacker as you’ll see in this area.
Michael Brereton, Mahopac: Lineman with good size and quickness. Getting plenty of college interest.
Ray Nichols, Nyack: Quarterbacked the Indians to the Class A title.
Derek O’Dell, Haldane: One of the toughest, and most accomplished, players right now in Section 1
Joe Tralli, Croton-Harmon: All-state receiver probably makes big plays downfield on a consistent basis
WHERE DOES HE FIT IN?
Jonny McGhee, New Rochelle: If he’s playing, he might jump into the “lock” category. But the word right now is that he isn’t on the team. He started the last two years at quarterback, leading the Huguenots to AA titles.
STARS BY NOVEMBER
Guys who are Super 11 candidates now and will be likely all-county picks
Bruce Grant, Fordham Prep: His performance in the Turkey Bowl alone should warrant serious consideration.
Tyrell Goodman, Stepinac: Will run wild and throw the ball all over. A gifted athlete.
Tyler Dorien, Croton-Harmon: Nobody will be Nick Mainiero. But Dorien could come pretty close.
Matt Laccetti, Ossining: Elusive and electric. This is one of the most fun players around to watch.
Lewis Edney, New Rochelle: If McGhee doesn’t play, this will be New Rochelle’s QB. And he’s a stud athlete.
Colin Tullgren, Somers: A great kicker, he’ll get plenty more touches with Rob Lombardo gone.
Tom Hanney, Nanuet: Returning starter at quarterback. At 6-2, 195, he’s a tough kid and talented athlete.
CAN YOU PICK JUST ONE?
Teammates who both deserve serious consideration
Jesse Hunt and Tim Muller, Fox Lane: Hunt (QB) and Muller (WR) are going to be quite a tandem this season.
Dave Thomas and Donovan Walker, Roosevelt: With the Indians dropping down to Class A, both of these stars could put up video game numbers.
Jordan Bronner and Greg Gadsen, Iona Prep: Bronner will be among the area’s leading receivers while Gadsen is a terrific defensive lineman. But can you pick a third Iona Prep player? Tough call.
Just so you’re aware, this isn’t the end-all, be-all list. There could easily be a name not mentioned here that gets on. I’ll be out at camps throughout the summer, starting later this week, and will be evaluating talent, talking to coaches and players and continuing to make assessments.
This is just where the list — and the debate — begins!

Ok Kev, you proved you got the most knowledge, that is a pretty darn good list. I forgot about Acquah, I heard he’s prolly getting offered by all the “local D1’s”, Syracuse, Rutgers, Penn St., BC, so he’s gotta be on the list. Other than that, I pretty much nailed it! My list was:
1) T. Woodson – Iona
2) J. Mack – Iona
3) L. DiRienzo, Jr. – New Ro
4) R. Schilling – Carmel
5) M. Brereton – Mahopac
6) S. Sulla – North Rockland
7) D. Degree – Ossining
8 ) D. Brailsford – Dobbs Ferry
9) J. Tralli – Croton
10) J. Powell – Stepinac
11) R. Nichols – Nyack
so get rid of Powell, stick in Acquah, and I got all the locks and heavy favorites, plus most of the upper half. Here’s my question though. How does a kid move up or down the list? Also, what is the criteria for making the list, and is it possible for a kid who didn’t start last year to make the list? Maybe he was stuck behind an all-state player or something but has a break-out spring/summer, can he be put on?
Where Dieana in your list
Also Tulgren playing some split end this year
What camps are coming up and what schools will be at them?
hanney? ha
The Iona Camp will host great teams such as Dobbs, Rye, and New Ro. Should be a great one!
If you were at Carmel Friday night it was rather obvious that the best QB there was Tyrell Goodman and not Ryan Schilling as Stepinac went 4-0. (Even though Ryan is a very good HS QB and has very good career numbers).
Also Josh Powell is his Go-to receiver and a 3-year starter on a couple really strong Stepinac teams.
I think Morris Hilton should be the 3rd Iona Prep player in the running followed by Michael Dunkley. Georgy, Gadsen, and Bronner are good but Hilton and Dunkley are 3-year starters who can impact the game on both sides of the ball.
Acquah is a good player but when playing against tea
s like Iona Prep he was held to 0 tackles 0 sacks. I like apostolopus from Iona prep he is a D1 prospect but I also think Dave Thomas is a given he is one of the most elusive backs also getting d1 looks. Also isn’t rob Alexander a junior he should get some love
Alexander was a senior last year.
Shilling is I believe the only two time All Section pick entering his senior campaign who does nothing but play big in big games..ask Mahopac—N-Rock—New Ro etc..
Venson Constant – Nyack
this year i think there be three players from iona prep. morris hilton should the third. last years team did make history.
10960,
I think Venson is in the stars by November category. He needs to work hard and stay focused.
Elijah Sorel might be another star in the making for Nyack. If he has worked hard to come back from his injury last year, I would also put him in the November star category.
What else are you hearing about the Indians?
10960, Constant was injured all of the last year practically and stood on the sidelines for the state semi-final game, hold off on Super 11 talk till next year. There are two kids from Albertus Magnus players who Scout has written some articles on, I have never seen them play so I am asking if they should be considered.
Sal Sulla of North Rockland
definitely a lock
In reality iona’s 5 best players are the best in the section
Woodson-Samuels,Mack,Bronner,Gadson,Hilton r 5 of the top 10 players in the section. Joe ricci is a top 5 DB and sidney weston and mike longo are two outstanding olb’s.
10804-George is overrated. He had tough games last year against good teams and hes not a D-1 recruit. Hes being look at schools like UPenn and URI and Springfield College nothing serious although he is good but not great
I don’t get why Eck isn’t on the list, as a Soph. he put up some great numbers and lead his team to an undefeated season and state championship. No other QB on the list other than Woodson-Samuels can say that, an hes a lock. If you saw this kid play last year and how he played in their playoff run you should know he is legit.
I was very impressed with Eck at the recent Rye 7-7. He has a very good pocket presence and strong arm.
The 5 top QB’s in the area are Tyrae Woodson (Iona Prep), R. Schilling (Carmel), Eck (Rye), Ray Nichols (Nyack and if he plays Jonny MCGee for New Rochelle.
constant played more then half of the season
Can you rye people learn to read…
“THE UPPER HALF
Players who must have good summers to assure spots
Cole McCormack, Rye: Total beast in the backfield. If he was in a one-back offense, he’d top 1,500 yards without a problem.
Connor Eck, Rye: Great QB and a state champ.”
I wasn’t at the 7 on 7 at john jay today but i heard there was a rb/db for new ro wearing #3 so i guess the rumors about McGhee not playing are true, they gave his number away to someone else.
Is it possible Mcgee ends up elsewhere? Deaina is a lock super 11. Some kids are products of the class they play in. Derek Odell plays at a lower classification, however, theres no doubt that he would put up very strong numbers if he was playing in AA. Very good player.
A poster wrote about MAgnus having kids written up on Scout.com. It seems every year that Magnus has a few players that are listed. Either the kids are going to camps/combines or their coach knows an editor over there
IonaPower, have you seen Tyrell Goodman yet? He will be 1 or 2 by the end of the year. Especially in the offense he plays in, taylor made for him.
but stepinac is not playing any type of competition. and Goodman did nothing yet. HIlton is three starting middle linebacker and is five times better then new ro’s linebacker.
so when stepinac has three players with 1,000 yards we should be impressed? nope! lets put them film on see who they playing. christ the king?
QB’s
I did see Goodman play at the end of the Iona – Stepinac game. I agree that he has great potential and will do very well. He has all the tools to be a Division 1 AA prospect which in the world of recruiting is a high accolade.
Like I have stated recently I think it really hurt Stepinac that they have moved back down to the CHSFL AA. They accounted for themselves very well in the AAA. I know they lost Easterling, Collins and some big linemen but they would be best served playng in the more competitive league.
i was at john jay 7 on 7 yesterday. new ro has some great young db’s. jordan and shaq evans. names youll should get to know. had two into’s each. new ro look very fast in their wr and db positions. could new ro be better throwing the ball this year then running?
cant wait to see all the talent at iona this week. scouts should sneak a peak. lol
ionaprepcrazed you sound like a hater when you talk about hilton vs. “new ro linebacker”. clearly you know his name. you know the names of as of yet nobody’s on new ro’s roster (jordan and shaq evans – what year are they in never heard of them) yet you don’t refer to dirienzo by his name. jealous much? there is no arguing that iona and new ro have been the top 2 programs in this area in football the last two years. hilton and dirienzo have both started for those teams. any player that end up as a three year starter for programs like that, no one player can be “5 times better” than the other. I’m not saying who’s better, I’m saying one isn’t 5 times better than the other. you sound ridiculous when you say something like that. then you name the full name of some kid no one has ever heard of. your not mr. evans by any chance, are you? how else would you know that kids name?
IONAPOWER:
I AGREE WITH YOU REGARDING STEPINAC – I JUST DON’T THINK IT WAS THEIR CHOICE. THEY WERE RANKED BASED ON HOW THEIR LOWER LEVELS DID AND HOW MANY SENIORS THEY LOST (I THINK). IT DOES STINK GOING TO GAMES LAST SEASON AND WATCHING REAL SOLID COMPETITION TO NOW WATCHING THE OPPOSITE.
IONAPREPCRAZED:
TAKE IT DOWN A NOTCH – YOU ARE STARTING TO SOUND LIKE THE OLD BRIARCLIFF FANS
what days and times are the iona camp?
Th Iona Camp will be from June 25th-June 30th from 3pm-8pm.
may I ask why derek o’dell isnt higher on the list? the kid has accomplished so much, and he led the entire section in rushing yards last year and since freshman year has been top 5 in tackles i don’t understand why this kid doesn’t get any respect… he diserves it in my opinion.
Deianna is a definite lock for Super 11
IonaPower and Ionaprepcrazed,
Iona could probably make an argument for having 4 or 5 players in the Super 11 based on performances from last year. However, I doubt Kevin would pick more than 3 players from Iona at the most – if he did, it would cause these blogs to explode in anger from the Rye fans! As much as I would like to see Stepinac have a couple Super 11 players, I’m not sure they will this year. In recent years, Kevin seems to pick Super 11 players that had big years the previous year. He seems not to pick guys he thinks will be stars by the end of the season based on talent. Goodman, Gilligan-Evans and Powell may all be in the top 11 football players in the area by the end of the year, but I don’t think any of them had big enough seasons last year to be picked for the Super 11. I agree with all of you guys expressing disappointment that Stepinac is playing in the AA this year instead of AAA. I thought they did an outstanding job last year in the AAA and I hope they spend most of the future in the AAA. In the skill positions, Stepinac is definitely a AAA school talent-wise. I don’t know much about what is coming back on the lines at Stepinac next year. As we all know, if the line play isn’t up to par, no team could compete in the CHSFL AAA. Stepinac should have a big year in the AA this year and would be poised for a big year in the AAA in 2010 and hopefully with Iona back on the schedule. Everything I heard is that Stepinac would’ve rather been in the the AAA, but was stuck in the AA due to their losing a lot to graduation and other schools moving around.
highschoolfootballcrazed relax. You are the one that sounds like the hater, the other person was just giving their thoughts. I think everyone knows Louie D will be fine this year. The more I read these blogs it becomes quite evident that there are a few out there with multiple user names. What a joke.
Hoops Fan
I believe Stepinac will be undefeated before the CHSFL AAA playoffs begin. Then it will be interesting to see how Stepinac plays against the bottom 4 teams from the CHSFL AAA that will then drop down to the CHSFL AA playoff bracket. Last year Holy Trinity and Stepinac faced each other in the CHSFL AA Finals due to both not qualifying.
As far as the amount of players from Iona Prep on the Super 11 I think 2 players from one team will keep it equitable. I am sure tat you can argue for Greg Gadson, Morris Hilton, Mike Dunkley etc but I think it is only fair to try to pick players from as many schools as possible.
It is also discouraging to hear some of the comments showing a a lack of respect for Stepinac. I saw first hand last year a very athletic team that played Iona Prep very tough. Stepinac also had some hard fought contests against legit teams liek Chaminade, St. Joseph by the Sea and Farrell. Stepinac clearly was a top 5 team in the entire area.
Good Luck to all
how many? i mean ionaprepcarzed, i mean mr. evans what the hell are you talking about???? how can I sound like a hater when all i did was call out an overzealous father (you) when you diss another player. I didn’t say anything bad about a kid, I said the guy sounds jealous that his kid hasn’t done anything yet when Lou D has. why else would you call Lou D the “new ro linebacker” yet name two other kids on new ro that no one outside the freshman or jv coach and the kids father would even know, that’s just plain disrespectful. and why would you trash your kids teammate by saying that another starter on a comparable team was “5 times better”. get off the blog if you can’t be called out when you say something dumb.
Who cares about individual awards lets get some early insight as to what teams are top of their respectative classes. Looking forward to see who can capture that Class B title now that Rye has finally moved on to Class A…....Thank God!! Also will be fun to watch when Rye challeneges for the Class A title. What will people say about Rye then? Ya I know they couldn;t do that to the likes of WP and New Rochelle or CHSFAA league.
HIGHSCHOOLFOOTBALLCRAZED
I NORMALLY DO NOT WRITE ON BLOGS
SO HERE IS MY #646-261-8372 U CAN CALL OR TEXT ME, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF YOU DIRECT YOUR COMMENTS TO ME DIRECTLY. I AM NOT THE NAMES THAT U HAVE SUGGESTED.
Mr. Evans, highschoolfootballcrazed is just that. He can’t think strait, hence why he has multipple personalities through different user names. I wonder how long it took for him to write that e-mail and which name he would use.
I am an objective reader and gave an objective answer as to who the real hater was and now it is quite obvious as well.
highschoolfootballcrazed pick a name (and a personality) and stick with it!
I HEARD MCGHEE IS TRANSFERING TO IONA AND WILL RED SHIRT THIS SEASON
Can someone tell the real story as to what happened with the McGhee? Why is he not playing?
Red Shirt? That might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of, you can’t “red shirt” in high school sports. People these days say the craziest things. “Red Shirting” is a practice used by college’s and universities when a player has a season ending injury or, more recently, usually his/her freshman year, when the player isn’t physically or mentally ready to compete. It’s because in NCAA athletics, you have 5 years to complete 4 years of eligibility. Not the case in high school sports where you have 4 years to complete 4 years of eligibility (in some cases, if you are “classified”, you have 5 years to complete 5 years of eligibility, but you have to begin your 5 years in 8th grade). The term “red shirt” used to describe a player sitting out of game competition comes literally from a red shirt. Back in the day the QB’s wore a red practice jersey, the rest of the offense a different color, the defense a third color (usually the two different school colors), The red shirt would signify “no contact”, as in you couldn’t hit, block or tackle a player with a red jersey on. When the NCAA first began to allow players 5 to complete 4, schools stayed true to the intent of the rule which was to allow injured players to not be penalized by getting hurt. The “no contact” policy for a player recovering from injury made sense, so players who were not playing in games, yet practicing with the team because they were recovering from an injury also wore the red jersey’s, and the term “red shirting” when you were practicing with the team but not playing in games was born. Then, as college athletics became big time money makers, and the number of scholarships grew, college coaches began to “stock pile” players by having incoming freshman sit out playing their first year, so that they had a full year of being in the program to figure things out mentally, and get bigger, stronger and faster, yet also practice to become familiar with the system. Those players were given the red jersey’s to signify that they weren’t eligible to play in games, but then you had players who couldn’t be hit along with players who could be hit. So, the “red jersey” was done away with, the QB’s are now usually given a bright green jersey, or some other non-school color, but the term “red-shirt” was here to stay!
As far as high school players being granted a 5th year of eligibility, it happens, but rarely. A player has to show that he has four things. One, not enough credits to graduate in 4 years, two, he has to have only played 3 years of high school football (or 4 if he was classified as an 8th grader and that includes freshman, jv, or varsity), attendance records stating that his reason for not playing football also stopped him from participating in phys ed, and four a doctors note stating that the injury suffered did not allow him to participate in football. So as you can see, it’s rare that a high school player has everything necessary to qualify for a “5th year” of eligibility, and highly doubt mcgee qualifies.
It was posted on the blog earlier in another post, supposedly he missed all the off season workouts and blew off a couple of meetings with the coach so they threw him off the team. Pretty ballsy if ya ask me, but I guess no one player can be bigger than the team, sets a bad example.
Thanks Real Story. I applaud the coach for doing this. There is a reason why New Ro is a top program.
Once again there are no Eastchester players mentioned on this list. This season they have three returning starting offensive lineman and they have a middle linebacker who has been starting on varsity since he was a sophomore. Take a look at these guys because these guys have a lot of talent and belong on this list.
I think coach D has done everything humanily possible to help Mr. McGhee both on and off the playing field. Coach D
is not only about his program but is MORE about providing
lifes lessons as well. I hope that this young man has NO regrets after his time at New Rochelle high school is over! Whatever the situation is section 1 fotball is the loser. Coach D and Mr. McGhee have experienced the highs and lows together over the past years why not end it with a state championship once again!
Eastchester doesn’t have any one worthy of being in the top 11. Try to compare stats with any of those kids that are being mentioned, then go back to sleep. Your two months away from the start of the season then start talking, but for now enjoy your summer and don’t forget the sun block!
I think your WATER LOGGED from all the rain and your brain has shrunk!
Are U Kidding,
You don’t know what you are talking about so just keep the moronic comments to yourself.
A kid I like is Matt Lacetti. Reminds me of Lou Leone out os Scarsdale back in the 70’s, who went on the play at Princeton. Eastchester has Kevin Bronner, who will have a breakout year, just as good as Lacetti.
Speaking of Moronic comments is Matt Lacetti on eastchester i don’t think so! Why would you mention someone
who kevin is not even mentioning for his super 11. What kind of stats did Bronner have from last year. Like i said maybe the sun will come out today, u might want to use a forty block so you don’t get heat stroke next!
It appears CLASS A FAN and GO EAGLES is the same person
why would he mention eastchester not getting any of its players mentioned for kevins super 11. Then he starts to talk about his friend from the 70’s and other area players. If u want to fight for your eagles put some stats up otherwise go to the tanning booth before you get into that HOT sun! and dont forget the lotion!
Are you kidding???,
I didn’t say Lacetti was on Eastchester. But it’s tough for 4th graders to comprehend what is written sometimes.
By the way, I’m not Class A fan. Did you understand that?
Mcghee got kicked off because he pulled the snap against woodbury! He would still be on the team if he let the kicker kick it!
Go eagles, aka Class a fan
So what team is Lacetti on and were is your back up stats for your beloved eagle players? as usual you blow
smoke then don’t back anything up. Great blog about comprehending you have not backed up any of your blogs with any relavent information and or names other then the RB. That’s right your son was the one with the red jersey on at the RYE 7 on 7 scrimmage for eastchester. Don’t hide behind your aka’s give us facts, i see the sun is coming out put that lotion on your head!
the iona to mcghee transfer red shirt was a mock on the current recuiting that goes on at iona i heard mcghee wanted more money
Are U kidding…
Just because you’re paranoid, doesn’t mean they are not after you, right.
You need some serious help. I have no aliases. Are you used to being lied to your whole life?
Put down the crack pipe and step away from the computer.
inside informer
Way to provide some very good insight- Very insightful commentary.
that was funny. mcghee is redshirting to sit behind woodson-samuels, lmao
Go eagles,
it’s amazing how you can remember back to the 70’s almost 39 years ago but u cant remember the names of the eastchester players u want kevin to consider for his super 11 team. maybe u could go back to woodstock and revisit your
past! please get off the blogs your a complete mess!
JEFF MACK FOR HEISMAN
I wish there was a turkey bowl this year…haven’t been to one since I graduated Iona in ‘98. Something has to be done about the scheduling to begin playing these games again…then these ‘top player’ discussions could be settled on the field.
Devaney’s lists are always a good read though, even if he couldn’t ante up like this in Barbezat’s class.
the true story, you obviously have no clue how insulting your statement is, or your just a moron.
Come to iona tommorow to see alot of these candidates in action Jeff Mac, Tyrae Woodson, devonte brailsford lou dirinezo, cole mccormick, jordan eck, and the rest of iona preps excellant team
All u section one fans are so jealous of iona prep cuz there just better than ur team. u cant play with the big boys like iona does. Of course since iona is way better than ur top teams (other than new ro, who iona wud still smack), u accuse iona of recruiting. WELL NEWSFLASH! Iona is a diverse school and besides how the hell could they recruit friggin 8th graders? C’mon, u guys are ridiculous and just jealous cuz iona has better overall athletics than iona program in westchester and better players and better teams than anyone in westchester
than any program* not than iona program
Kidding is blind and paranoid…isn’t Bronner a name? Maybe it’s just the crack.
I apologize to all the 4th graders out there, your obviously special ed.
Dobbs wont be at the Iona camp because they couldnt get their equipment approved in time..
Jealous Idiot,
Very easy to recruit 8th graders. I know a seinor on the team who they recruited in 8th grade.. Gave his dad a job to boot. So, please don’t go there.
Read somewhere that Iona Prep has scheduled Don Bosco this season. And if so is there a scheduled date
They play Bergen Catholic at the Giants Stadium on 9/11
What about that kid Daryl Schuler from Peekskill I heared hes really good.
im not trying to start anything, but as great as iona prep was last year, at champion camp they were pretty even and struggled at times with a new rochelle team that really didn’t play well until the end of the season. I don’t buy that the top of section one couldn’t play with the chsfl and i never will.
McCormack should be a lock. he’s been on the team since freshman year, has two rings and played significant roles in both of those seasons, and he is 37-1 so far. He had a sick season last year to win the Sate Championship and he will be bigger, faster, and stronger this season.
10801
New Rochelle would fare very well in the CHSFL AAA. I do think they would have to get adjusted to playing in a league that has great balance. Every week is a challenge and you have no time to rest anyone because whether yo play the last place team (Farrell- who had a great program) or St. Anthony you are in for a fight.
As far as the Champions Camp I think it is not the right spot to judge teams. Iona was implementing a new QB and sveral new players as I am sure New Rochelle was doing the same. The funny thing is if you remember it was the Harrison fans who were talking championship after the camp.
New Rochelle and Iona have developed two very good programs that are now known outside of the area which to me is something.
Garnets
I watched McCormack a few times last year and he was a beast against Harrison. I agree that he should be on the Super 11. He is an excellent High School player.
iona prep does recruit dont deny it the coaches have said it. there is a kid that lives in a group home on the team im not goin to say a name but dot try to tell me hes payin the tution
I am going to try to check out some of the action today. I wish all the teams good luck in getting the good looks they need to make them better for the up coming season.
Don’t sleep on Shaquille Gould from Spring Valley!
Ramapo Gryphons are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What about Bobby Small from Sleepy Hollow. With Rye moving to A, Sleepy Hollow should be strong.
S.V is your running back healthy this year? I am forgetting his name. He is a big time athlete
Super 11 is a nice chance to spotlight players. Teams win championships. Rye High without all the “stars” of other teams will once again be playing important games late in the fall.
jealous idiots:
are you a student at iona prep? if so are you in honors, regents, or the special ed program? just curious.
kevin:
your super 11 is completely wrong.
it should be the SUPER 40 – iona preps entire roster
(could be more or less)- even the water boys are awesome – you ever see how fast they run on and off the field with the water bottles – it’s sick!
iona doesn’t recruit – please guys, everyone just wants to go there, it is the best institution in new york state. the kid mentioned that was in a GROUP HOME was actually in the honors program so iona was able to offer him an academic scholarship!
Iona power.
I have to disagree with you on your point of new ro doing very well in the chsaa. I think the biggest difference between the two leagues is depth. By the late third and 4th quarters teams in the chsaa would have a huge advantage due to not as many players going both ways. I have seen it in jersey with bosco, joes and BC, how the good public schools such as montclair, hackensack or ridgewood wear out by the end of the games due to depth issues. Then, later in the season these teams all make runs at state titles in the public school division. Two or three years ago bosco beat montclair 44-0 and then montclair goes and wins the states for group 4 public.
New ro could be competitive against the lower half of the division and maybe pull an upset here or there against one of the upper teams but on a week to week basis they would be in over their head, and that is not an insult but a reality on the differences between catholic and public school sports in NY. That is why NY should seperate the two leagues when it comes to state titles. It is a whole different ball game between basketball and football when it comes to privates vs publics. In basketball you can compete with 8 players but not in football.
Good looks on the Joe Tralli and Devonte picks for the Super 11. Joe is one of the biggest playmakers in section 1 when it comes to recieving and Devonte can run/tackle with the best. I believe that Croton Harmon will have another great year this year as they are SOOO much faster than everyone else. The Dobbbs croton game will be one to watch this year. If you did not know, Croton won their 7v7 tourni against much higher classes and tyler dorien and joe tralli are two guys that will hold it down this year.
dbp i have to disagree. New rochelle is one of the best conditioned anywhere and works hard enough to make the 2 way playing obsolete. Also, you don’t understand the coaching and speed advantage new ro would have over most teams in the chsfl. Who do you think Iona prep learned their new defense from last year? And please do not use jersey as an example because comparing the jersey powers tho the chsfl is a ridiculous comparison
What about the ossining kids. Are they good enough to be up thier???i think Laccetti should be up higher
Did anyone hear rumors of LB/TE Lou DiRienzo Jr having shoulder problems. Is this true
dbp81 u cant compare don bosco to any teams around hear. they are a national powerhouse. so u cant compare their depth to any in the area
10801
I guess we will find out how ridiculous the chsfl and new jersey comparison is when iona plays bergen

i think those ossining boys deserve to be up there. i also think they both should be super 11 but i bet nobody else believes that.
2008 Nyack was an injury plagued team that lost very important players including an impact player in Venson Constant who I agree will be a star by November. Losing a weapon Like Constant made game planning alot easier for opposing defenses. He’s Possibly Nyacks Key running back of 09.
Glad to see football is back!! It’s a little disappointing not to see any Harrison Super 11 nominees. All your eyes will open this year when you see Knox and Alvora play. Knox would be great if running in the I formation but we all know that won’t happen. Thanks Artie!
Go Huskies! Beat Rye!
U iona people need to stop lieing to your selfs u guys recruit I’ve seen it at pop warner games and camps that I’ve work.
doesn’t matter about recruiting because i dont believe iona could compete with class power houses let alone new ro. so everbody stop crying over spilled milk
Section One Fan:
It’s Connor Eck at QB last year (2008 NYS Class B Champions), this (2009) and next (2010) for the Rye Garnets.
It was his older brother Jordan Eck who piloted Rye to the 2007 NYS Class B Championship from under center.
Brothers playing the same position (QB) and leading their teams to back-to-back NYS State Championships.
Anyone know whether this has happened before?
And in the oft chance Rye pulls off the big upset and runs the 2009 Class A table through Syracuse, has any quaterback led their team to two-straight state titles in different classifications?
Inquiring minds would like to know.
Hey Kevin come to the fordham camp this Sunday see how some real teams compete!!!
For those who think iona could not compete with anyone in section 1 are crazy. Ii guess when espn had iona in the top 10 in the east they thought they could not compete. Ha ha ha
if i wasn’t mistaken this blog was not a poll on whether Iona prep would or wouldn’t dominate in section 1 AA because the fact is no one really cares. Iona Prep is a private school composed of kids all over NY, while schools in section 1 aa are merely just town teams. It would be nice to discuss super 11 on this blog rather than follow up like every other blog about how iona recruits or how New Ro and Rye rank among teams in section 1 history. Other than you guys who constantly write about the same thing over and over again, no one else really wants to read about that. not putting down new ro, rye or iona prep but it just gets repetitive. All 3 are very respected schools in their certain classes and can we please just accept that rather than repeating the same argument for over 100 blogs.
Brothers playing the same position (QB) and leading their teams to back-to-back NYS State Championships.
I think the Paulus’ did this.
No. None of the Paulus’ won back to back state championships. CBA only won the one state title. Their only other appearance in the title game was 1997 when they lost to Dover in Class C.
Speaking of Paulus though, the Don Bosco graduate is correct. The difference is absolutely depth. When New Rochelle had the greatest team any of us have seen, they lost to CBA who had twice the roster size with only a few guys going both ways. New Rochelle was getting killed defensively for that reason. New Rochelle 2004 could’ve beat any of the New Jersey teams in a 1 game series, in fact, they probably would went 2-1 that year against the big 3 of Joes, Bosco, and Bergen, but year to year, the depth of the CHSFL and the Jersey Catholics is just too much.
What happened thursday at Iona Camp, was anyone there?
PS R.I.P. Michael, even though you were a whacked out bird, you were a singular talent….
I heard new ro practiced on a grass field at the grammar school, while rye and iona practiced on the turf field at the prep. And they had to walk to the turf field for the 7 on 7. I guess thats what happens when you go to a camp with two champs. lol. All the teams seemed pretty even at the 7 on 7.
dover won a state chip in 97? wow they r prolly the worst team in the whole section now wat the hell happened to them?
no harrison or eastchester or even rye neck players, i dont know about this list
John Malone, CBA /NewRo was a shootout where CBA put up numbers that NewRo hadnt ever given up. However, NewRo was controlling the game with the lead and the ball when Ray went down. Ray doesnt get injured and Newro wins their second title in a row.
The Dover team that won the class C chip was extremely fast. They had a few 1aa kids. Their quarterback( Abrams) was one of many Abrams( outstanding athletes) from that town. He started 3 years at Northeastern.
who said it was even at 7 on 7. Are you crazzzy? It was Iona prep university vs hs kids.

10801 and NY fan,
I am not using bosco as the example for a dominating football team even though they have a very good program. My points were that new ro is a very good team with excellent coaching and many fine athletes but over the course of a season they do not have the team depth necessary to compete in the chsaa. They could beat one of the top teams but not every week and the reason is as follows, the chsaa teams have the opportunity to reach out to more players from a wider area while the public schools get to play whoever lives in their district and attends their school.
For 10801, forget Bosco, look at BC, Joes and st Petes and the depth that they have on their roster. That is what makes those schools tough along with excellent coaching.
Finally, i will say that Iona is the best team in the Ny area as of today but that does not mean they will win anything and when it was st anthonys as a power they were one of the top teams in the country according to usa today. When they played and lost to bosco two straight years those games were close and very physical. I remember being amazed at the size of the st anthony players. So, do not think that iona cannot beat BC. As a Bosco guy I am hoping that Iona smacks BC all over the meadowlands because us bosco guys love to see bergen get smashed anytime they can.
Iona scored once and new ro scored once. so lets not go that far ionaprepcrazed.
dbp81
why are you still talking about the same stuff. This is about super 11 not about iona being the best or don bosco be don bosco. talk about the kids who are gunna be an impact come next years season….
real deal,
I amswered other bloggers comments that is why. As for super 11 my favorite player is sal sulla from nr and i expect him to have a giant year in rockland
dbp81
didnt mean any disrespect in my comment. But i think if any classAA players come to A. for an example new ro vs the “O” would be a good game this year. but the “O” has to deal with rye the first game so we’ll see how good they are.
As for super 11 my favorite picks are J. Mack T. Woodson, matt laccetti ,dakota degree,Connor Eck
DBP81
you hit the nail on the head depth! Look at St Anthony’s… they have 100 kids on thier varsity and jv. They have 2 freshman squads last time I checked.. Depth means better practices… means better game like experiences.. means better cushioned to absorb an injury to a good player. Means a better overall football team. notice I typed better not the best. You can have a small squad and be good.
Anyone going to the Iona Camp today?
when did new ro score? And Iona did what wanted to new rochelle. New Rochelle look slow and stiff.
When did new ro score? And Iona did what they wanted to new rochelle. New Rochelle look slow and stiff.
Crusader Watch I will be there hope we get to see some good action. Exciting times
ok… I’ll be there as well. Can’t wait to see the action. Tomorrow I got a full plate of 7 on 7 action to go watch… Its good to have Spring FootbalL!
section 1 is so boring – the results are in already:
new ro wins sect. 1. aa football and mvernon wins sect.1 aa basketball – same story – sucky competition – no parity…this is the problem with westchester.
As far as Rockland county goes, Just about all camps have officially begun.
For those who dont have a long knowledge of section 1 football….. New Rochelle is a fairly New football Power. North Rockland used to be the team to beat. So it really isn’t the same ol’ Story.
ionaprepcraz you need to take off the yellow and red glasses. it was a 7 on 7 and fairly even, with both offenses looking ahead of the defenses. And 10960 is completely right, before 2000, new rochelle had not won a section championship since the 80s.
can we see some of you guys picks please
mine:
1) T. Woodson – Iona
2) J. Mack – Iona
3) M. Deiana – Somers
4) R. Schilling – Carmel
5) M. Brereton – Mahopac
6) M. Laccetti – ossining
7) D. Degree – Ossining
8 ) D. Brailsford – Dobbs Ferry
9) J. Tralli – Croton
10) J. Powell – Stepinac
11) R. Nichols – Nyack

i believe goodman or mcghee (if playing) should be over schilling and nichols. Goodman is a stud who has so much potential and will put up unheard of stats at stepinac, while mcghee has 2 sectional titles including one over schilling.
Real Deal,
I see you have two Ossining kids on the Super 11, how is the balance of the team this yr. Rye gets welcomed into Class A with Ossining in Rye for the season opener. I think it should be a good one. I am sure Rye coming into Class A would like to prove to everybody they will be a team to watch. I think Rye wins a close one 24-21. The one shocker for Rye I think will be the speed of Ossining. They don’t see this type of speed in Class B so it will be interesting to see how they come out of the gates.
10801 you obviously are young. Let me shed some light on New Ro football history. New Rochelle has had good football teams for years. This argument went on last year. I believe they even won the section (or came close) in the early 90’s in Louie D’s first go around as a coach. In a poll in 1982 they were considered the best in the State I believe. In the 80’s and 90’s before the State playoffs when Roosevelt, Mt Vernon, North Rockland, Mahopac, Spring valley at times, even Scarsdale had good teams, New Ro was always there with the best. There was a little lull when Louie D left for a little bit in the 90’s, but overall please. And let’s not forget Pop Warner, because their success has always been unbelievable. But everyone born before the 80’s knows that.
funny,
i’m fairly young, but have a pretty good idea of new ro’s success having been a former captain. I was merely stating that this recent domination of section one has not been going on forever, and despite being competitive throughout the 90s, coach d did not capture his first section title until 2000 (although if he hadn’t benched two starters he might have accomplished this in 1994.) And i am well aware of some of coach crocker’s dominant teams in the 80s, and know that new rochelle has been a successful program throughout its history, even being declared national champions once in the 20’s.
. The 90s and 80s were dominated by Roosevelt and North Roc. Carmel had some goods teams, however, NewRo was nowhere near the powerhouse they are presently.Had section 1 been able to compete in the states during this period of the late 80s and up til 93 , theres no doubt that Roosevelt would have had a few more state chips, NewRo might have had a good year or two but this run they are on now hasnt always been/

10801, nice add in about the 20’s. I like it. Just wanted to make sure we were on the same page. New Ro has always ahd good football talent, do not let anyone tell you different.
Riley Girl, New Ro was always one of the top teams in the 80’s and 90’s except for maybe a couple of years in the mid 80’s and the brief period when Coach D went on his hiatus, but I agree not on the sustained level of North Rock or Roosevelt. I think New Ro’s dominace over the last couple of years can also be viewed as the demise of the other schools as we watch North Rock not even look like half as good as they use to. And let’s not get into the demise of programs such as Roosevelt, Mt. Vernon(though I know they are trying to come back), White Plains of recent or Scarsdale. It seems the competition has been watered down somewhat, but who knows maybe Ne Ro just has gotten that good!

Hey I believe North Rockland had a 7 on 7 today. I believe Spring Valley is or was there today. I also hear Ramapo camp is running very smooth despite yesterdays rain. Devaney should start dropping by practices in a few weeks so we should get alot of insight. If anyone else knows anything else going on in the section drop a note so we can collectively gain intelligence on this blog.
I didn’t even know Ossining opens up against RYE…. This season is going to start with a massive BANG!! Will they come to class A with authority like Harrison did?? we’ll see.

Funny, I do believe that the Section has not been strong at the AA level the past 10 years. The Newo team will go down as one of the best in state history, however, as you said North Roc is not the same. I have said on this forum that the conservative nature of North Rocs offense means that you need a STUD at tailback in order for them to be at the elite level that they were with LAssic and Larkins. Their skill players havent been that great the past few years either.Kids like Mccoy put up numbers because of the nature of that offense and the comp.
Youre also correct about WP and Scarsdale. Wp seems to be getting it together while Scarsdale will find it hard to consistently play winning ball.
What happened at iona camp today? I didnt get a chance to drop by.
How none of you people have Jordon Bronner of Iona Prep on your super 11 is ridiculous. Bronner is hands down the best reciever in the county and top 3 in the CHSAA he is ridiculously talented. The only other reciever that is in the area of bronner is forgot his name but a receiver from croton. Bronner is much more athletic, faster, quicker, agile, and has much better hands than anybody in the area and no one is even close.
I was at iona camp today and from what I saw Iona completely dominated the inside drills from both sides of the ball. On iona’s offensive line #76 (who is this kid)played very well he may be a returning started from last year whats his name? anyone know?
greg gadson from the d-line. iona’s secondary was okay needs to be finetuned. New ro’s line was looked quick as did rye’s but just didnt hav the same strength that Iona had
For everyone who has been talkin about Jordon Bronner, i dont know if anyone has noticed but he hasnt been to camp yet and I heard rumors that he may not be playing so he can concentrate on basketball. can anyone verify?
although bronner “held out” till august of last year before decideing to play.
Rye’s running game has lacked their leading rusher from last season for all of camp so far.
Section 1 man
I am getting the feeling that bronner will not play football this year as he might secure a d1 basketball offer after the summer aau season. That would be a major loss at wr for iona. They do have some young juniors that are fast but do not have the physical presence of bronner.
As for the camp all 3 teams should have good seasons. I am very happy about what I saw from iona. They have a number of big physical kids. I knew they had a number of juniors who were big. #76 is named mark parascandola and he started at guard last year.

Riley Girl.
Beyond 2000 hasn’t been bed for North Rockland ball Carriers. Kelvin “KJ” Smith and Phil Decosta was a brutal combo. Anthony “Big Mac” McCoy would’ve started anywhere he plays. Redrick Alceus was a bruiser and carried his team to an 11-0 record winning the section before falling to M-W. Not to mention that they had a speedy Terrel Burnett to compliment Alceus one year. Now North Rockland has another freight train in Sal Sulla.
I agree with everyone that the Balance in class AA has been Horrible this decade. 2000 champs New Rochelle, 2001 North Rockland, 2002 North Rockland, 2003 New Rochelle, 2004 New Rochelle, 2005 North Rockland, 2006 New Rochelle, 2007 New Rochelle, 2008 New Rochelle.
Horrible
Iona Power, Cmon man, you fell for the oldest trick in the book. section1man is obviously a friend or relative of mark parascandola, or mark himself. I’m surprised you responded to that. that’s part of the problem with this blog, too much foolish “anonymous” self-promotion and bs. i wish this could be a place to share information about teams and players, and a place to express opinions. instead it’s become a cesspool of idiots talking themselves up, or trashing other 15, 16, 17 year old kids. enough already i say!
Hey Kev,
Keep an eye on the Mahopac Machine. Number 26 Dillon Addinizio. He is replacing Justin Autera. He is going to be a star to watch.
Iona camp news
I hope I did not fall for any desperate trick as I was answering a question. The player I was referring to did start and is a good HS player.
I do agree that hopefully people do not try to self promote etc because then this forum will be useless
ionapower:
at this point if jordan bronner is going to get offers – he has probably got some by now. he had a good jr. yr. in bball and from what some say a solid aau season. i am not sure what difference it makes if he gives up football to secure a bball scholarship. he is a good enought talent and kid to be able to secure a bball scholarship and also play football. after all it is going to be his last year at iona so i would excpect him to play football.
i would think schools in the america east or northeast conferences would offer – any thoughts? not sure if he is maac level – maybe? worst case d2schools like cw post or st rose – which are very competitive.
Just a thought
Bronner has had a very good aau season and he should get some patriot league, northeast conference type offers.
Maybe the injury factor on the football field is what he is thinking about as a school cab revoke a scholarship at anytime.
He has college level type football talent so it would be a big loss to iona. Iona is probably the smallest school from ab enrollment standpoint in the chsfl aaa so it will hurt from a depth standpoint
New Ro scrimmages harrison tuesday and wednesday
Was anybody at the fordham camp today? Sleepy hollow did a great job with some real tough conn. teams. They went up against masuck(no spell check on that) but they are one of the top 5 in the state of conn. This is going to be a great season in B for sleepy. This kid Bobby Small is going to be a real beast he has amazing strength and speed.
Watch out Rye week 4!!!
RYE MIGHT START OFF 1-3 THIS SEASON, OSSINING, SAUNDERS (W) EASTCHESTER (L), SLEEPY HOLLOW (L)
WOW IMAGINE THAT!!!!!!
i was wondering what anyone thought about Luke D’allesandro of hastings i know its a C school but I have seen him play and he is a ball player.
Iona Camp News
I cant believe you misstook me for a player/relative but to be honest I am a father of a rye player (no names because if my son found out he would tell me to stop talking up the other teams)
Ive been to the camp close to everyday for the scrimmages and 7 on 7s and I was just making some observations on what I saw.
Any news from Rockland Camp at North Rockland? What teams were there and how did they look?
today iona and new ro looked very even in inside drill jeff mac and lou dirienzo looked very hood and seemed far ahead of everybody else both great players. I was very impressed with both. Also iona backup qb ran the offense very well and will be good after tyrae leaves
i agree both players looked great today and should be supper 11. Also new ros dline looked excellant does anybody have names on these players
does anybody have info on why dobbs isnt at this camp
what kind of college interest is tyrae getting?
Spoon man
Tyrae woodson was at the hofstra camp yesterday. He looks like he will play at hofstra, maine, new hampshire type level
Crusher, sounds like you shared this story to insult the guy. Rob should go find some new friends and hopefully Kevin takes down your post if he can.
football fan according the section 1 recruiting site it’s because they didn’t get their equipment certified.
Somers Gorton and JFK scrimmages tonight. 5:45 to 7 :30 at JFK.
Ross Weiner for super 11. This guy deserves it. He gives his all in the weight room and on the field every day and he will turn some heads this year. I heard Stony Brook, Fordham, and Columbia have some pretty heavy interest in him; they said he has the biggest calves they have ever seen. Just watch out for this kid he’s gonna crush people this year.
Riley Girl.
North Rocs offense has a STUD at tailback SULA , Their skill players have been great the past few years even though none have made it to the nfl they all continued to play at the next level!!!!
P.S. SULA aLOCK SUPER 11
Riley Girl.
10960 is on the money
SULLA a BEAST.,
Redrick Alceus is amazing
SULLA a lock 4 SUPER 11

If I am not mistaken your O line of 08 were all Senior’s
Its going to be tough to repeat but i agree Dillon Addinizio is a beast
O’dell is a very talented RB/LB I know he plays in class C but he dominates it on both sides of the ball. If there’s only one guy in C to make the supper 11 it should be him hands down. Ask any of the coaches in his league.
Odell over Brailsford? are you serious?
Iona Power if the last couple of posts didn’t prove my point I don’t know what will. “dynamite dan” should be ashamed of himself for his post. Ross Weiner was at the section 1 combine. He’s a 5’ 6” 228.5 lineman from Somers, who ran a 5.93 40, 5.53 pro agility, and a 9.81 l-drill. I don’t think he’s ever seen a meaningful snap. Either “dd” id ross self promoting or someone making fun of him. shame on him either way.
Franco’s cuts
Mahopac returns brereton on the line who’s listed in kevins upper half…
Spoon Man
Breteon is the only returning linemen unfortunately. Mahopac is loaded in the back field, and has more RB’s then they know what to do with, but are thin up front.
As for Adinizzio, he has the potential to be the next Autera, the kid is the real deal and is going to be Mahopac’s go to guy this year.
Truth Don’t look at the tale of the tape look at the numbers. Yes Brailsford is bigger and faster but O dell has more yards more td more tackles. If I was a college coach I would call brailsford first but if only one guy can make the super 11 from class C that man is o dell he has done more in the stat book with less around him. If your in class C you don’t play Haldane you play O dell.
Franco/ 10960- I understand that NRoc has had some kids put up great numbers, however on a whole in order for them to make a dent in the sectionals and States , they need a stud at TB. Smith is /was obviously a great player( He was in the NFL) but he wasnt a TB. Riedrick was a specimen , however, his post Nroc career has shown that he and Mccoy were great high school players and thats it. The fact is that their offense is from the dinasour age. I also understand that they have a solid team every year, their coach is a legend and as long as hes there theyre gonna go at least 8-2 every year. Which aint bad.
Riley Girl,
One thing I can say is that Kelvin Smith was one of the ball carriers. He played linebacker and fullback. He got enough carries. Decosta was the tailback. thats a fact.
The Power I is a dinosaur age offense such as the Veer-T-formation (wing-T) and triple option. Atleast the Power I is used still today even in the NFL. Dinosaur sport will give you dinosaur formations… anyway, thats a fact. Can you win beyond 2000 with Power I?? well north rockland and webster shroder were both power I in 2001 and both played for the state championship.
Now the subject is High school… So has North Rockland got their fair share of excellent ball carries?? YES!! What they do after high school doesn’t negate the fact that they were good in High school..
does this sound about right??
I think North Roc’s problem last couple of years is they have tried to get cute and fiddle with additional options to the offense such as the wing t in 05 and then after I believe they tried to add the spread to a degree. Assuming they have the big o-line and stud tail for 2009, they should do well this year with the power I. I say stick with what has always worked. It does not matter if the defense knows what coming if you kick the crap out of your guy at the line of scrimmage.
Harrison/New Ro scrimmage? Where & when??????
Anybody knows how Gorton look at the camp this week? they should be pretty good this year.
To Iona Camp News,
Dynamite Dan made a mistake he confused Victor Prato for Ross Weiner. I guess he got confused because the both play tackle at different sides. There both pretty good tackles that are both strong. Iona Camp news do not make fun of people because if there size. Nyack was smaller then other and won section one class a title. Don’t say things that u do not know. Andrew Madigan for super 11.
10960, I have read your posts in the past and I respect your knowledge and love of the sport. What you have to do though is comprehend my writing and not argue for arguments sake.My posts said that NRoc hasnt had an elite level TB . I ststed that Smith carried the ball and i knew he wasnt the primary ball carrier because he was the FB. I played ball in college with a few of the coaches from Webster and Im pretty sure that since the schools have broken up, they havent won a state chip.
I only mentioned post high school careers to back up my statement that many of these kids are system players. With NRocs line, the comp they play 8 out of 10 games EVERY kid they put in the backfield should put up great #s. And most of the time they do
Gorton looked very good….Very disciplined in pass coverage and tons of speed on defense with 11 guys swarming to the football at all times.
Rileygirl,
I’m don’t mean to argue. That’s not my intent. Your one of the respected bloggers, I always read your comments. I see what your saying though.

Eastchester looked really good at rye 7 on 7. There offense looked stacked as they scroed on almost every play. They looked extemly quick espicially against iona, they swarmed to the ball very well. Returning 9 of 11 starters on defense. And a offense that looks like it would be hard to stop. Rye 7 on 7 was something speacial for eastchester. Watch out for those two backs reina and bronner espicially. The kid could fly easily one of the fastest kids in the section.

Best players in section ,why only 1 in Class c. O’Dell has proven his worth.Regular season rushing leader.Loses it because he plays 1 less game. At top on Defense since freshman season. His only fault is he’s not 6’ 200 lbs. Measure his heart. Im sure it ranks on top. Im sure theirs bigger and faster but if Im going into a war I know I getting 110% from him.
Woah lets hold on here, I’ve seen both O’Dell and Brailsford play and O’Dell is on every single play no matter what and he is definatley one of the quickest backs in section one, way faster than Brailsford… O’Dell has my vote, but it won’t matter, Haldane receives no respect and no matter what anyone says Kevin isn’t going to give it the the noname Haldane, who by the way worked its way back into a competitive team the last 2 seasons, good job, but I feel for O’Dell all of his hard work and just because of where he plays he gets no recognition. It’s all politics and it shouldn’t be that way it should be on who performs the best on the field.
Odell is a good player and he should get it too but if it comes down to Brailsford or Odell you have to go Brailsford,,,just my opinion
Odell and Brailsford are one of the few kids that play at a smaller school and could start/star at a AA school. Im not trying to be too critical of Brailsford however, he seems to be the same great player he was as a freshman. I havent seen a lot of growth in his play. I read that hes getting looks from D1 schools but I dont see it. Nothing wrong with starting two/3 years at Cortland , Ithaca or Brockport. I have spoken to a few coaches at top AA schools and all have said that ODell would start and put up good numbers at their school.
This is not a knock on Brailsford. Just an observation.I think he’d be a great D3 OLB
Johnny mcgee is coming back coaches were talking about it yestaday. He is coming back
When is the Super Eleven finalized
Ruben Frank from Poughkeepsie just committed to U/Conn today. While I realize he is not from Westchester or Rockland that accomplishment should just maybe make him eliglble for the top 11???
Just Saying
players to watch during the season,
only 3 players u hav r legit stars. I agree with J Bronner, Sulla, and Edney. Its obvious ur from eastchester considering u named unknown players from eastcher and eastchester resident pete desalvo. I seen all them play, There not that good, bronnner no idea who he is u must be him, Reina is strong but not special at all martin is not in the same league as others and desalvo is ver slow, gets burned all the time and is not a top 10 player on his own team
i respect all schools from across westchester and rockland. however, this is the super 11! Not the super politically correct 11. It does not matter where they are from, the top players, whatever school they go to, should be chosen.
initially i would go brailsford too, but i saw both of themplay and o’dell has the bigger heart also Brailsford was a super 11 last year and what did he do? just saying he had his chance
wow
Peter Desalvo is going to be a 3 year starter for Iona Prep and is a very good player. However he in no way should be considered a Super 11 player.
My comment was in response to Husker98 saying only 1 from Class C will besuper 11.My position is that gameday accomplishments should account for something. If Brailsford and O’Dell are both exceptional players give it to both players. But at least let them play the game first.Injuries happen and first impressions sometime are not a good judge of things.Incidently, I know for a fact O’Dell has a few Schools interested in him. He just came back from Boston College 4 day camp and has stirred some interest at a few d2 schools.Ran 4.7 and vertical is 33.Good luck to all candidates but im rooting for this underdog.Go D.O.
Brailsford was injured for part of the year and never 100 percent all last year. He is a beast
my point exactly
he was hurt and still got super 11. move over and let someone else take the spot. play first then get rewarded
so what are the list looking like guys?????
I think everyone knew Johnny Mcghee was coming back to New Ro except their coaches and a few of their supporters on this blog( who might also coach at New Ro under aliases). The truth be it, everyone knows these spring/summer camps are too long and accomplish nothing if you are worth anything as a hs football player. Johnny knew it and sat on the sidelines and watched them sweat as he enjoyed a life. These camps were not going to help him, unless of course New Ro is impelmenting a new offense.
Don’t worry I expect the haters to respond that ” oh he begged to get back on the team”. If the program had any real principals Johnny would be out. But you can not blame New Ro because the rules do not apply to players that re good! Always has been, always will be(and please do not bring up past stuff about coach Lou and how he sat players, that would be really pathetic).
Brailsford 100 percent this year is going to be an absolute beast…trust me
I have two things:
1. If Bronner does not play for football this season, Iona would lose all 4 starters at recievers. Can they replace that?
2 Cole McCormack has to be super 11. He is a freak athlete that is a very good running back.

Michael Dunkley played RB and WR last year and will be a big factor.
Peter Desalvo who started at FS as a sophomore and Junior will move to WR because Iona has two very good incoming juniors at Safety in Travon Malone and Severin Cornelious.
Mike Alfano who will be a junior was looked at as a starter.
Losing Bronner who is by far the most talented receiver would be a big blow because the loss of Chris Alfano and Darlos James to graduation were going to be hard to replace.
Just like Rye, Iona will have to find a way to reload which I expect both to do which will both lead to championships.

Also Cole McCormack should be on the super 11 team. He is an excellent player.
Port Chester has 2 kids drawing a little interest. Corey Smith (6’2”/225) and Zach Fiermonti (6’3”/275). Smith impressed Coaches at a BC camp and also attended camps @ Penn St. and UCONN. Both gettting serious I-AA and Div.II looks.
devonte brailsford peaked his freshman year. he was the joke of the all state ranking last year going first team with 32 tackles and 400 yards rushing. dobbs is finished the dynasty fell.
odell is a beast but he isnt super 11.
joe tralli is the truth. one of the best player in class C next season. peep the mans catchs to touchdown ratio
The word on the street is nobodys home in Harrison.Sounds like another down year in the making. Can’t believe a school that draws from Purchase,Silver Lake & downtown can’t come up with any players.Huskies in 2010???

now tell me thats not a beast.
The problem with these blogs is people get gassed up in order to be brought down. Brailsford might be a beast, however, if hes the D1 player many think hes gonna be then what position is he gonna play? Theres no way he plays FB, too small for DE and not quick enough for OLB. I dont want to sound like Im doggin the kid but theres nothing wrong w a kid going D3 and getting a lot of run. If anyone has tapes of the 91 Dobbs team with Blackwell and Brown. Thats D1aa players. They dominated
No one said theres anything wrong about going D3
I know this is a longshot for consideration but it really shouldnt be…
LB Marc Palmer for Kennedy Catholic averaged 16 tackles per game and finished 4th in NY state with 142 tackles last season as a Junior….just thought i would throw him out there
u guys are just hating to much its just not rite u guys make it seem like u are but u are, there is nothin wrong wit brailsford goin D3, u guys cant be makin all the judgments becuz u dont have the facts brailsford goes to many camps and big combines but u guys dont pay attention, just look for him to show wut he has next year, O’dell has the heart and the motivation to be big he is a great football player but he doesnt have the size he should be on the super 11 becuz he is good enough, the boss of class c man just hop of croton joe tralli is good just not that good he culd be super 11 material but O’Dell and prolly Brailsford and maybe joe could be on there for next season super 11
What about the players from Sleepy Hollow? They are often overlooked for Super 11 honors and continue to be. A few years ago they had a team full of super 11 caliber talent and no attention was paid to them until after the season where multiple players recieved all state and section honors. I think its time for a little more recognition of the program. They have a returning runningback, bobby smalls, who rushed for almost a thousand yards last year in class A. They are also a team in contention for the section championship with the departure of rye into class A and there moving back down. I think its time to give them some of the recognition they deserve guys.
when is the official super 11 picks??
i saw eastchester at the 7/7, martin is a beast. and reina is going to be unreal, hes fast/strong and seems to have great vision, seems like he could be rb or wr. i dont know if they play rye, but that has the making of a great game. eck (rye qb) is the real deal, his father played qb at uva in the 80’s, great pedagree.
Deiana should be a definite lock for Super 11
dieana and tullgren should get it for somers. they hare both two outstanding backs and should have a very good season
