Class A semifinal: Rye vs. Lakeland

February
27

Update, 10:09 p.m.: It’s over (thankfully). Lakeland wins an ugly one, 57-42. Peekskill-Lakeland for the title.

Update, 9:49 p.m.: Lakeland leads 38-28. Start 4th

Update, 9:19 p.m.: Halftime and Lakeland leads 22-17. Not a pretty game. If you’re still watching, you’re quite loyal.

Lakeland’s clearly the better team here and I’m not quite sure how Rye beat it in the regular season. If the Garnets pull this off, I’ll be surprised.

Update, 9:03 p.m.: Lakeland up 13-6 after the first

Update, 8:46 p.m.: Tipping off…

Update, 8:05 p.m.: Tonight’s final game — the A semi between Rye and Lakeland — will get underway in about a half hour. It shouldn’t be much after 8:40 by my calculations.

Predictions?

    Lakeland should romp…

  2. scary

Either team is in big trouble against Peekskill

  3. bballfan

Wake me up when it’s over…

  4. lefty

Rye cant make a shot, Lakeland has too many turnovers

  5. Seth

    Lakeland won’t romp, i say 54 – 46 Lakeland

  6. RedDevils21

Looks like both teams are running the D’Antoni offense, 7 seconds or less. Not really impressed so far, Lakeland has this though from what I see…

  7. RUTE

Rye was missing two key players for the game. Saw them both in shirt and tie.

  8. Rye fan

With Clark Antico and David Mintz in the game i guarentee Rye wins that game, just not enough shooters out on the floor for the depleted Rye team. But overall the Rye team played hard as usual and when it was over they could leave knowing they gave everything they had on the court. The rye team beat all expectations this year and became a team to remember in Rye basketball history.

  9. Bob

What happened to those two Rye players?

  10. Rye

One broke his leg and the other got suspended for the game because he left a detention early to go to practice.

  11. Hit me

Antico and Mintz were on the bench the whole game…... stinks.

  12. Hit me

When your missing your Starting Shooting Guard who can score in bunches and your 6th man who provides tremendous energy and intensity it definitely hurt Rye in a big way they just didn’t have the same thing they had all season. They also couldn’t shoot from the perimeter without those kids.

  13. SPARTEN

You bring what you have to the game, regardless of the excuse. South Shore H. S. had four starters out, in the slam-dunk at the county center. You have to play with what you have. That is high school (and even college) sports.

  14. Hit me

I’m Just making a point that it would of made a huge difference. I know what you bring to the game is who you play with. But do you think if Lakeland were missing two key players that contributed all year like Fazio or Austin that they still would of won. Probably Not. It makes a huge difference when your missing two kids that combined for about 55 Three Pointers. A perimeter game is essential and Rye didnt have that last night and it hurt. But Good luck to lakeland Tomm.
