Heading up to Cuse

November
28

After a festive afternoon of decorated the Christmas tree (yes, we actually did it today), I’ll be leaving for Syracuse in the morning for the state football championships.

Croton plays on tomorrow at 2 in the Class C final against Southwestern. Rye plays Sunday at 4 p.m. versus Oneida in the Class B championship.

Both games will be aired live on our website. This is the link to view both games.

I’ll be checking in live throughout the games with updates, stats, analysis and play-by-play in the fourth quarter if the games are close. I know many of you watched the New Rochelle and Nyack games from last weekend and were a little lost in the final minutes. Is there anything else I can do to assist in your viewing? I can give down-and-distance and time, full play by play, whatever you want. Let me know.

I had a few stories in today’s Journal News. The main one was on how Croton-Harmon and Rye, Section 1’s two finalists, were probably the most polar opposite teams left in the state tournament. Rye is the perennial power. Croton is the ultimate Cinderella.

There’s the 5 things you need to know about the weekend.

I took a close look at each team and handed out some awards for each side. I’d like to hear your thoughts, too.

Here’s the week by week on how Croton-Harmon got to the Dome.

If you can somehow let us know the time remaining in the quarters that would be helpful.

Kevin…lets hope you have an artifical tree. If you don’t you may burn the house down by putting the tree up so early. Those suckers tend to dry out when you put them up a month before Chrismas you know.

Great job on friday previewing the games…glad to see Carpinello write the article on Tommy Maloney….assist. coaches don’t get nearly enough credit. Anyone who knows Tommy is aware of his tremendous loyalty ,skill and dedication to the Rye football program for couple generations. He and Dino are coaching some kids whose fathers played for them now. Thanks “Pop” Garr and “Pop” Maloney and good luck at the dome.

If you could just let us know whats going on when there is a penalty, every know and then just tell us the down and distance, and the time in the Qtr, espeshially at the end if the game is in critical situations.

You guys could also just give us your thoughts as the game is going on.

The Onedia QB is quicker then you thought. Onedia is from Syracuse area, and they have brought a huge crowd.

Rye is physically stronger and is now wearing them down a bit. Emotion has led to a fired up start, but now the teams have settled in….

The Croton/Southwestern game is classic Run (wing T) vs the spread. Croton hasnt seen a passing offense like this and are having a hard time adjusting…

Stuff like that. Let us know what you think is going on as the game goes on.
