Rain on the parade
It rained for about five hours today in Kingston. It poured for two hours in the afternoon before the Tuckahoe-Chester game. There was practically a monsoon in the hour leading up to kickoff of New Rochelle-La Salle. And it downpoured every second of my two hour drive home.
Mother Nature must have been a linebacker in her day, because she really looked after today’s football action. It didn’t rain a drop during either game.
Tuckahoe and New Rochelle rained points in their state quarterfinals today at Dietz Stadium. Tuckahoe posted a 47-12 win over Chester in a Class D game. New Rochelle strolled past Section 2’s La Salle, 33-7, in a AA matchup. The wins completed the 5 for 5 sweep for Section 1 teams this weekend, placing all five teams in next weekend’s state semifinals back at Dietz Stadium.
It was quite a weekend for Section 1 teams, at least from a win-loss column. However, you can analyze it several different ways:
There’s the Hunky Dorey Way: Croton-Harmon, New Rochelle, Tuckahoe and Rye all blew out their opponents and Nyack grinded out a gutty win over an excellent Cornwall squad.
And there’s the Realistic Way: New Rochelle, Tuckahoe and Rye all played sloppy against far inferior competition but masked it by playing strong third quarters; and Nyack was extremely fortunate, if not lucky, to beat Cornwall thanks to a holding penalty and narrowly-missed field goal. Croton was the only team that looked sharp. Yet it played an Ellenville team that might have been the seventh-best team it faced all season.
I’m not trying to put a damper on the weekend. Heck, I was one of the people who felt Section 1 would blow through the weekend unscathed and win all five games. But there were definitely highs and lows for each team this weekend, and you can’t afford many lows if you want to win a state title.
The games are only going to get tougher, trust me. Let me take a moment for each team to look back on this weekend’s games and nit-pick. I’m going to take the gloves off and give you some straight talk:
New Rochelle
The low: Jonny McGhee struggled tonight throwing the ball. There was no reason to, either. La Salle wasn’t getting pressure on him and it wasn’t covering very well. Yet McGhee seemed to short-arm a few throws, and was anticipating his reads instead of actually making them. He threw two interceptions, one leading to the tying score in the first quarter and the other squashing a chance to put the game out of reach before the half.
The high: Superior talent prevailed in the third quarter as New Rochelle wore La Salle down physically. Great effort by the New Rochelle line as the Huguenot scored on their first two drives of the second half to break it open. Chris Cherry ran the ball well, as did McGhee and Isaiah Manigault in limited touches.
Won’t win it all unless…: The legion of Monroe-Woodbury coaches were in attendance tonight and I can’t imagine they were all that impressed with New Rochelle offensively. For good reason, too. McGhee didn’t throw the ball with authority until the third quarter and Tremayne Williams never got going on the ground. The pressure is on McGhee to remain poised against Monroe, and for Williams to provide a spark. Based on what I saw tonight, I wouldn’t be shocked if the game was tied 7-7 entering the fourth next Saturday. As much as the Huguenots want to establish the run, they simply cannot win without McGhee hitting his receivers.
Nyack
The low: They went for it on fourth-and-1 at their own 29 late in the fourth and didn’t get it. With Kevin Arduino running Cornwall’s offense, it should have been the end of Nyack’s season. Somehow it wasn’t as the Indians got the benefit of a holding call in the closing seconds, and then a missed field goal as time expired. Arduino threw for 253 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for 106 yards and two scores. Nyack is fortunate to still be alive after all that.
The high: The Indians went up against a stingy Cornwall defense and moved the ball efficiently. Anthony Davis ran for 143 yards, and Dominic Leonard caught a 61-yard touchdown from Raymond Nichols. The defense might have given up serious yardage but it made plays when it had to, highlighted by a touchdown on an interception return by Francis Stewart.
Won’t win it all unless…: Arduino is probably going to be the best player Nyack will face all season. But Class A across the state is known for its depth and athleticism. The key will be ball-control. Like all great wing-T teams, there’s no limit to the numbers of carries the fullback (Davis) should get the rest of the week. Nyack got away with being aggressive the last two weeks but it can’t live like that for long.
Rye
The low: Two first-quarter turnovers off fumbles showed that this team, in fact, could be human. The passing game wasn’t quite as effective as I thought it would be against a blitz-happy Highland defense, mainly because the protection was spotty early. It was a 14-0 game late in the first half only because of good field position and because Kyle Ramalho was by far the best athlete on the field.
The high: Like New Rochelle, the Garnets established themselves in the third quarter and blew Highland away. Ramalho and Cole McCormack overwhelmed the Huskies defense and knocked them back on almost every carry. The duo combined for 209 yards rushing and four touchdowns.
Won’t win it all unless…: Turnovers can be lethal in the state tournament, and I think those were a little bit of a fluke. All it’s going to take to move on is to keep expertly mixing the carries between Ramalho and McCormack. The line struggled early against Highland’s pressure and aggressiveness. That’s very un-Rye-like, but I’m sure something it will address this week.
Croton-Harmon
The low: There really wasn’t one. The Tigers seized a 21-point lead in the first quarter after Ellenville fumbled on its first play from scrimmage. Ellenville couldn’t get out of its own way after that.
The high: The Nick Mainiero-to-Joe Tralli 69-yard touchdown is one of the top plays of the year. At Kingston tonight, somebody came up to me asked: “Did you see that touchdown throw by the Croton kid?” Mainiero’s legend grows.
Won’t win it all unless…: The Tigers should forget this game ever happened. I’ve seen a blowout win in the state tournament have damaging effects on teams in years past, breeding overconfidence. Based on what I saw online, Ellenville was clearly not as good as Dobbs Ferry, Westlake, Rye Neck or perhaps a few others in Section 1. Croton can’t let this win derail its focus.
Tuckahoe
The low: Two touchdown passes before the half — both on shoddy coverage — allowed Chester to get back into a game it had no business being in. Tuckahoe hadn’t faced many passing teams this season, so we can give it a pass for a few deep balls. But the fact Chester’s quarterback sat back and threw for 285 yards should raise some flags.
The high: Anthony Gentile sparked the Tigers in the third quarter, turning a 19-12 lead at the half into a comfortable 33-12 advantage heading into the fourth. Gentile ran for a score to cap an 80-yard drive with a 7-yard touchdown run, and polished off their next series with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Carlos Carrero. Carrero, by the way, returned two fumbles for touchdowns in the first quarter, padding Tuckahoe’s lead.
Won’t win it all unless…: Anybody that scouted this game is going to try to throw the ball on Tuckahoe, and for good reason. What finally stopped Chester in the third quarter was the decision to put Gentile at cornerback when Chester drove into the red zone. He made a huge tackle on a quick pass and then batted down a ball in the end zone. Alex Melendez and Carrero both played well in the secondary in the second half, mainly because they stuck to their assignments and got up on the receivers.
So there you have it, a know-it-alls approach to winning football, brought to you by a guy who never coached football a day in his life. I’m just making observations. And I’m probably not alone on any of this, either.
Can we get a sweep in the semifinals? I’m going to analyze these games pretty closely over the next 48 hours and get back to you on a confident answer.

Mr Devaney,
You say, “Nyack got away with being aggressive the last two weeks but it can’t live like that for long.”
Who you telling, I hope they stick to the ground the rest of the way. Ground control, No penalties and we can pull it off. I think we have more answer defensivly then offensivly. I hope we can drive with our little 3,4,5 yard chunks per carry without killing the drive on some incomplete pass or fumble or penalty.
I think Nyack wins if Anthony Davis gets 25 touches or better.
You also say
“”The key will be ball-control. Like all great wing-T teams, there’s no limit to the numbers of carries the fullback (Davis) should get the rest of the week””
Your right.
As for New Rochelle…..... I think they got caught up in the hype of last weeks Air assault. Coach D probably was tryna showcase a pass attack to throw off the M-W scouts lol.
New Rochelle is phenomenal on the ground… Speed and Power. They can grind it out. They can win the Clock battle. New Rochelle also has a relentless pass rush. The M-W QB needs to be a good scrambling QB otherwise he’s gonna play half the game with his back to the ground.
New Rochelle is the most physical team I’ve seen play this year. These guys tackle well. They also have alot of weapons on offense.
Hey Devaney,
is it me or have you stopped commenting on your blogs?? You create them but you dont add insight anymore… whats going on here??
Kevin:
All five section 1 teams made their opponents look inferior. At this point in the season you will not see inferior competition. Congrats to all the area teams.
New Rochelle has great depth – After the two obvious star players in Solomon and Williams their roster depth from lets say their # 3 player through # 20 player are very good.
Nyack had the most impressive win because it came in the most pressurized setting- They showed a lot of toughness and heart. Anthony Davis must be First Team All State in Class A.
Good luck to all the Hudson Valley teams this week.
As Far as Nyack going for it on 4th down for the second week in a row, I thought it was a no brainer to do what Castallano did.
His team’s defense looked exhausted after chasing that superstar QB around for 4 quarters. Cornwall was moving the ball at will in the 4th, and had figured out Nyacks defense and was picking up 15-20 yards a play.
I think at that point it would have made no difference if Cornwall got the ball on thier own 40 after a punt, or at the Nyack 30, they were going to probably score.
It wasnt like there was under a minute left, there was 240 left. A Lifetime in High School football when they stop the clock after every first down.
The drive right before the last one, Cornwall went from thier own 25 to the nyack 4 in only 1:30. Like 5 plays.
It was exactly the same situation Nyack faced last week vs Ossining, and they had not been stopped much all game. they only needed a yard, and the odds were with the that if they got one yard, the game would have been over.
It would have been differnt if they were up by 7, but because they were only up by three, it was life the game was basically tied anyway.
I would have done the same thing if I was the Nyack coach.
I thought if Cornwall got the ball back anywhere on the field, they were going to win…
Just my opinion
Croton will go back to work and keep the magical season alive one game at a time.
The coaches have preach hard work since the end of last season 2 – 6.
They went to work and the hard work has paid off.
Go Section One,
Go Croton Tigers !!!!!
Here is a link to newspaper report on how Hudson Falls mauled Beekmantown http://timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=740262.
Here is another story on the game:
http://www.pressrepublican.com/0310_football/local_story_321004004.html
Here are some stats on Hudson Falls:
Rushing – McMurry, 23-257, 3 TDs. (a 4th touchdown was called back on a penalty) Thomas, 2-32. Mellon, 1-9, TD. Drake, 1-5. Wayatt, 2-5, TD. Sipowicz, 7-25. Totals: 36-315, 5 TDs.
Passing – Mellon, 4-5-1-145, 2 TDs.
Receiving – Thomas, 3-81, TD. Hammond, 1-64, TD. Totals: 4-145, 2 TDs.
In addition, here are some notes from the local papers where the Beekmantown coach discussed Hudson Falls:
“They’re a big team, especially on the line. They have a kid (Tim Hammond) 6-9, 260 at tackle,” The Beekmantown coach related.
Hudson Falls had the top runner in Section II in Joe McMurry, a 5-10, 185-pound senior, who rushed for 2,212 yards and 28 touchdowns. He had a 435-yard game earlier this season and his 2,212 yards is fourth-best all-time in Section II football.
“He carries 30 to 40 times a game, Haley continued. “The one thing about him is he’s very patient. He looks for an opening and then explodes. He’s a north-south runner; he’s not going to dance.”
Hudson Falls runs a 3-5 defense “similiar to the one Malone used, and Indian River,” Haley added. “And they’ll go to a 5-3 defensive scheme, which, if they stay in that, we think we’ll be able to throw. THIS DID NOT HELP THEM
Iona Power,
You have previously done two things:
1. Touted how highly ranked in the state Iona is to prove your point about how good they are, and
2, Stated that you thought it would be cool to have all 5 Section 1 teams and Iona as State/League Champions. (PS How you could compare a league champ to a state champ is beyond me, but that’s a discussion for another day)
If that happens (or just if New Rochelle wins the AA Title) New Rochelle will be ranked #1 in the State, and Iona will not, regardless of what Iona does in their Championship Game. The NYSSWA has acknowledged that they will always crown the State Champs #1, regardless of record. Last year in AA for example, West Genesee (11-2) with their 2 losses was co-number one with an Undefeated (11-0) and their 33 game undefeated streak William Floyd team. It would take an accomplishment like that to wrestle sole possession of the #1 ranking away from the state champ, something Iona hasn’t done yet.
So, the end result would be that New Rochelle would be #1, and Iona most likely #2 in the state. according to your logic, New Rochelle would be better than Iona. Care to either back off this whole “Iona is great, and the CHSFL is great because of where/how many teams we have ranked”, or concede that if New Rochelle finished the year ranked higher than Iona than they are indeed the better team this year?!!!!?
will croton face a team at least nearly as good as dobbs or westlake or even rye neck would be an improvement if not than you can say 2 things section 9 stinks and the westlake game was for all the marbles but your supposed to beat whatever they put in front of you . all in all i saw so far including the dobbs game just one westlake kid putting some pressure on nick. It amazes me how on third and longs at least sending a linebacker to blitz none of these coaches no much about giving different looks .Also remember im not taking anything away from this kid hes been great but im an outsider just giving some knowlege not critising other coaches just seeing this good young player whos on a roll i see alot of vanilla defenses especially on 3rd and 5 or more.remember in the westlake game #1 they didnt stop debiase game # 2 they stop him and win you must let someone else beat you.but all in all good luck croton!
Congratulations to all the Secition 1 teams on their wins this past week-end and Iona.
Let’s Hope they can keep up the good work.
New Ro will be ready for MW. All we can hope for is a dry day and look out for the speed and tenacity of the Purple Wave.
Go New Ro and all the Section 1 teams and Iona!
Don’t Count Yur Chickens
Unlike you I am not a hater and I am rooting for all the section 1 teams to win the States- If New Rochelle wins the States and Iona wins the CHSFL AAA championship and New Rochelle is ranked #1 and Iona # 2 I would not be complaining. I would be happy for both programs. It is not the fault of Iona that the CHSFL is not part of the State Tournament. If you do not respect what Iona has accomplished by being undefeated in what is arguably the toughest league in the State then you just have personal issues and are not objective.
Don’t Count Yur Chickens

Damn Kev you act like Nyack don’t deserve to be there. May Cas should of punted it. Looks like no one believes Nyack should of one, including Kevin
There is a lot of talk going on in the locker room saying the ref gave them a bad spot. They said they were way closer then where the ball was measured at. You seen Nyack players jumping up and down and cheering, then the ref moved the ball and you seen Cornwall players jumping up and down cheering, then you seen the measuring crew come out. If Nyack is to do something like win states, I don’t think Kevin will think they deserved it
Dont’ count your chickens:
You must have a personal situation with New Roe. You are obviously pro New Roe and biased.
Iona Prep is undeafeated and rank # 1 in Westchester and # 5 in the State.
New Rochelle lost to Carmel and is now I believe 9 an 1.
They are ranked # 2 in Westchester and # 9 in the State.
These are the facts.
New ro will take down MW, nyack will lose to burnt hills by 2 TD’s. rye wins with ease.
IONA WHO ELSE DID YOU BEAT BESIDES ST. ANTHONYS
NR HAS BEATEN CARMEL MAHOPAC LA SALLE & MORE TEAMS OF THAT CALIBER WITH EASE
dont compare private schools like st. anthony’s to schools like mahopac, and carmel, and la salle. most of the teams in iona’s league would do work against them. new ro is the only team that would compete at a high level in that league
how bad is ugarte’s injury?
Pending the status of Dom Leonard I’ll be shocked if Kevin picks Nyack to win.
I agree with Jax. Castellano should of punted so maybe it wouldn’t have came down to this. Do you guys realize the flag was down be for Adruino scored.
Castellano should of went for instead of kicking the FG to go up 24-21. The indians were driving and looked like they were ready to punch in a score, he really killed the momentum they had on that Drive.
Both Cornwall and Nyack had chances to put the game. Shame on Adruino for fumbling to big # 77 at the goaline. Shame on Cas for not punting and giving them the short field to work with.
The QB Nichols got knocked back into reality with two first half interceptions.
You got to have balance, offense, defense, special teams wins ball games. Nyack had all 3, therefore they won the game!
I respect Nichols 61 yard TD pass to Leonard. But Castellano passed way too much. He would kill time consuming drives with these out of no where pass plays. Nyack needs to stick to the ground against BH. Mess around and get one of your passes picked off and taked to the house
4567894
You are clueless- Xaverian has a High Division 1 QB plus they have the best Lineman in the State- Chaminade is one of the top teams in Long Island- The 9th place team in the CHSFL in Stepinac is the favorite to beat White Plains who happened to make the quarterfinals in Section 1. From top to bottom the CHSFL is the top league in the State. Look at New Rochelle’s Schedule and compare it to Iona.
The Massey Ratings have 5 teams from the CHSFL AAA in the top 50. Section 1 Class AA has 1 ( New Rochelle)
Go on Masseyratings.com and see the facts for yourself!
Ionas schedule is much tougher than new ro’s. New ro vs iona would be a treat, but iona would probably pull out the win.
Don’t criticize Nichols for the two interceptions unless you look at the circumstances.
The first one bounced off the hands of a Nyack receiver and into a Corwall defender’s hands.
The second one was the last play of the half and he threw it up for a jump ball in the end zone and the Cornwall player (Arduino) caught it.
I agree that you always want to see Nyack run the ball with Davis, Nichols, Leonard and Johnson. But you love it when Dominic catches a wheel route for a TD.
The 4th down when Nyack kicked the field goal was 4th and about 10 not 4th and 3. It was third and 3 and Nyack ran a power sweep from a full back field and Cornwall shot the gap and hit Brandon in the back field for a loss.
I still think they made the first down.
Nyacks wins will never be to anyones likeing but the Somers and sleepy hollow
When we were blowing out Pearl River’s and TZ’s by 40 it was our schedule that was to easy
When we shut out Beacon 20-0, it wasn’t god enough, we didn’t score enough. they said our offense slowed down
when we beat Harrison 20-7 that wasn’t good enough for you either. We held that beast of an offense to 7. You guys were saying it was an unimpressive win, even though it was Nyack’s gameplan to eat the clock up and a long time to score
When we beat Ossining 28-21 there are some of you(mainly ossining bloggers) saying that if it wasn’t for the rain there would of been a different outcome. That one was the worst!
When we beat Cornwall 24-21 we had god on our side, we werent the better team. People the flag was down before the QB crossed the goal line, it was coming back regardless. How about you guys praise the Nyack kicker who has been running around on 2 bad ankles all week and not missing a beat
If we do beat BH next week, I wonder what it’ll be next. Piclk Nyack to lose all you want. Picks don’t mean nothing unless there is money on them. When you pick nyack to lose, they don’t use that as motivation. They just practice hard and do their best to win
WingTGuy what is the status of Leonards groin?
Jax,
everyone picked nyack to beat cornwall. 90%vof the bloggers did. id say about half picked them to beat ossining too, so stop crying like a girl. nyack is the legitimant under dog to BH and they probably will lose, but im definetly not counting them out.
I dont care about who picks nyack to win or lose. What I’m saying is that no one respects their wins. I don’t care that people pick them to lose, neither do they. Read my post again then reply u meat lover. Eat Castellano’s meat!
10960,
Agreed on your points about Nyack. Ball-control is key and let the defense win the game. It’s a formula that’s worked for ever a decade.
As for my commenting, I have taken a hands-off approach in the comments section at times. It’s very difficult for me to join the discussion until well after a game is completed since I’m usually writing my articles. By the time I get the blog, you guys are 50 comments into a debate. I try to address anything topical in my blog posts. But to me, the comments section is for the readers, not me.
I have plenty of chances to answer questions, like our Wednesday show. If anything is emailed or asked to me directly, I always try to respond.
I respect your opinion 10960. Do you think I’m not doing this the right way?
center,
David Ugarte (New Rochelle RB/LB) was poked in the eye in the second quarter last night. His left eye was literally swollen shut afterwards but he said he’d be fine.
i would like to know who lasalle beat to get to the 1/4 finals ,they were awfull. carmel, jay , mahopac would wipe lasalle up , that goes to show you how good aa north was this year
Kevin how about dom leonard?
Fantasy FB
Too early to tell.
Everyone says he will be ready for Friday. Let’s hope they are right.
kevin,
I understand that new ros offense was sloppy, but how about some love for the defense?? Holding a 1600 yard rusher to less than 4 yards a carry and only 76 yards? allowing a 1000 yard passer only 2 completions? The only td came off a tipped pass. Defense wins championships and this new rochelle defense is great and will carry this team
Nyack is going to have their hands full with BH. Their QB (Layton) is nasty and the BH defense is big, strong, fast and disciplined. Their D-ends and LB’s are HUGE. I think they’ve given up a total of 65 points all season. This should be a good, physical game.
10960,
You made an interesting point that if MW’s QB can’t scramble that he’ll play with his back to the ground.
I’m assuming you’ve never seen Monroe-Woodbury. Usually you make some decent point on the blogs, but if you know anything about MW you wouldnt even really need to say that.
This kid is the best scrambling QB in New York state. Ask Devaney, ask Section1guy, they’ll tell you. He’s ranked a top 50 junior in the country (out of all positions) by Sporting News. He’ll be the best scrambling QB New Ro will see period. He’s big, fast, strong. He’ll run around you or over you and he ran on New Ro last year too. And he’s got an arm. New Ro will be in for a tough match-up. New Ro is a good team, but they know there going to fact the top QB they’ve faced all year. Last year he ran for more than 2,000 yards as a QB.
FIRST OF ALL DID ANY OF YOU GUY’S VOTE!!!!!!!!!
2ND DID ANY OF YOU GUY’S EVERY PLAY FOR A CHIP???
3RD DON’T COUNT YOUR “EGGS” CHIK!!!!!!1
I HAVE SEEN NEW RO/ IONA / CARMEL / MAHOPAC /
AND ANY OF THOSE TEAMS CAN BEAT ST ANTHONY NOT NOT EVEN RYE OR NYACK AND IF YOU THINK SO YOU TELL ME WHO! AND IONA DO NOT NEED TO PLAY 6 GREAT TEAMS TO PROVE THEY ARE BETTER WHEN SECTION CAN’T BEAT JUST ONE OF THE TEAM “ST. ANTHONY” FIRST ALL NEW RO WILL NOT BEAT IONA THROWING AND THERE RUNNING GAME IS SUSPECT AND IONA STRENGTH IS THERE SECONDARY AND ALL NEW RO HAS IS WILLIAMS THATS IT SO IT COMES DOWN TO MCGHEE VS IONA D.B.’S AND WOODSON VS N.R. D.B.’S
P.S. NYACK CHEATED!!! TYPICAL ROCKLAND COUNTY FOOTBALL / PEOPLE
DATING BACK TO WHEN THEY CHEATED THE STATE OUT OF THE COST OF JUMPER’S BRIDGE “THE TAPPAN ZEE”
YO! WHY THEY DO NOT UNIFY THE STATE CHIP!
THEN I DN’T HAVE TO HERE ALL OF THE STUPID COMMENTS FROM THE IONA FLOWER GIRL, CHICKEN SOUP OR MAN IN THE HEAD STAND, BEVERLY HILLS 10960 FOR GODS SAKE!!!
IAM SICK OF THE AA AAA CHSFL IT’S CRAYZ TELL AA GREAT TEAMS TO PLAY IN AAA! THEY DN’T HAVE 2 PLAY IN AA IF THEY ARE THAT GREAT! AND TELL AAA TO PLAY THE CATHOLIC AAA CHAMPS! THAN EVERYTHING IS DONE!!!!
YOU GUY’S NEED SOME PVC PIPE IN YOUR LIFE!
Joe the Plumber…not only you are illiterate, you are a loser. Stay off the blogs. Nobody cares what you think or what you have to say. I hope the PVC pipe you speak of falls on your head and knocks some sense in that small brain you have.
What is the name of the QB for Monrow-Woodbury?
Jax, Dan Scalo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2aDKeFEpm8
.
Mr. Devaney,
I understand. I was just wondering. Besides, the way these blogs have developed and the new added features makes good sense in the reason why your hands are full. No complaints, Just wondering. If you can sneak a comment in every now and then, that’ll be cool. As far as your wednesday shows go, I usually work those hours otherwise I’d be all over them.
Rocket,
Your response was informative. I can’t say that I had a clue that the Monroe QB was of that caliber. Thats very interesting to learn. I still believe that New Ro can collectively keep that QB in check. If Not, we have another Greg Paulus (which I doubt).
I also stumbled upon the arguments having to do with Iona. Guys, it’s common sense. The CHSFL Triple AAA is more competitive then your standard section 1 public schools. Do we need to explain why?? for the 100th time??
I also want to add that Castellano made a great call on fourth down. 9 out of 10 times, Nyack makes that first down. I’d rather them have given the ball to Davis in that attempt. The probability of winning was in favor of going for it on fourth rather then to punt the ball away to a team who previously scored in under 2 minutes. Just my oppinion. In the end… Nyack still escaped with that one.
Joe the plumber,
Your a moron… But I think it’s healthy to have moron such as you on this blog. Gives us a scape goat to clown around.
So what is everyone’s thoughts on the Nyack vs Burnt Hills game?
10960, watch that link i posted. He whipped North Rockland’s ass soley
was anyone able to see maineiro’s 3rd & 15 pass to tralli on the online replay? the video breaks up at that exact point (at about 17:16 on the timer). is there anywhere else to see it? thanks
FOOTBALL GIANT A@# HOLE, BEVERLY HILL 10960!
BEV. YOU DO NOT HAVE A CLUE YOU FAIR WEATHER FOOTBALL FAN, YOU DO NOT STAND FOR ANYTHING IN MY BOOK OF FOOTBALL KNOWLEDGE! AND FOOT BALL GIANT THE NEW YORK GIANTS AND YOU HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON Y’ALL BOTH NEED SOME COPPER PIPE IN YOUR LIFE BECAUSE Y’ALL ARE FULL LEAD!
IF ANTHONY DAVIS SHOULD BE CONSIDER ON THE STATE TEAM THEN DAVID UGARTE #13 FROM NEW RO SHOULD ALSO!
MW’s Scalo is truly an outstanding QB. He will give New Ro fits, but this year New Ro will be able to contain him better and hurt his running abilities. When he goes to the passing game, he is going to find that New Ro has greatly inproved and will shut that down. Don’t be suprised if the game is out of hand by the 3rd quarter with New Ro in a commanding lead. Revenge is a highly motivating factor since New Ro game them last year’s game. All in all, I hope all Section 1 teams make it to the Dome and Iona wins also.
Joe the idiot.. another brilliant post. Oh wait, you used “caps” so you must have made a solid point..NOT. If there is any justice in this world, you will be fixing a toilet tonight and it explodes in your face.
footbalgiant a@#hole!
lol real good one!
that do not camoflauge lack knowlede u have mustered up in your 44years on this earth
new ro will have a tough one versus monroe new ro should win and maybe they can step in the ring with iona for thankgiving day! if they are not scared to be second best in new rochelle which matters more than a fabricated state rankings
MW is way overrated this year (as was Lasalle). Burnt Hills dominated section 2, but they were playing…well… section 2 teams. Section 1 has a great chance of winning all 5 games.
lol lol Joe The plumber,
Where does this character come from??
the 44 years comment was funny though
Section 2 had three teams ranked in the top ten in NYS at one point I believe. Troy, Bishop Maginn and Burnt Hills were all in the top ten and BH spanked both of them. They also beat Lansingburgh 60-14…...
Oh hell yea. Burnt Hills is about to get in Nyack. I didn’t know they beat 2 top ten teams in the state during the course of the season. All I knew about was the 60-14 thrashing of the state finalists Lansingburgh. Nyack is in for a thumping
Burnt Hills beat Troy 35-20 and they beat Bishop 19-0. Both of those teams were ranked top 10 in the state according to Section 1 Fan.
Troy went 7-2 losing to Bishop 27-20 and to BH 35-20
Bishop went 9-1 only losing to BH 19-0.
Say what you want, no way Nyack wins
You guys love those computer generated rankings.
Masseyratings.com is a great site in predicting games across the USA. It looks like it is very accurate in predicting the scores.
IonaPower, Why do you say I’m a hater? I have said nothing bad about Iona, or anyone else for that matter. What I am doing is questioning your logic. When you use the State rankings to make a point, I simply pointed out that you should be prepared to live or die by that point. If New Rochelle wins the State title, they will be ranked above Iona at the end of the year. Will you then be prepared to say that New Rochelle is the better team? It’s a simple question, can you not answer it (not the answering the question without really answering the question response you gave)? I have no affiliation to New Rochelle, just thought it was funny that you are constantly pointing out that Iona is so highly ranked in the State, then mentioned you hoped all Section 1 teams win a State title. Got me to thinking about the above point, and the phrase “be careful what you wish for.” I also have great respect for what Iona has accomplished this year, I just think it’s silly to compare a State title to a league title, no matter how good the league. If Iona won it’s league title, then beat all the other Catholic Schools that won their titles, and could say they not only came out on top in their area, but the entire State, then I think you could compare the two. But for now? Nope can’t do it. Again, not Iona’s fault, you can only play the schedule they allow you to play. But you also can’t compare the two, like it or not.
Genero, Don’t let your emotions cloud your reading comprehension skills. I was simply tallking about IF New Ro won the State title, AND Iona won their League Title, would the Iona supporters who are clinging to State ranking to make their point be willing to concede that If New Ro was ranked higher at the end of the year that they are the better team.
ConnorNYACK, why would you admit to everyone on here your an idiot and say “dont compare private schools like st. anthony’s to schools like mahopac, and carmel, and la salle.” Lasalle Institute is a military school, and is in fact private. Wow.
Fantasy FB,
Nyack has beaten three ranked teams. Lansingburgh had a great run last season but lost 3 or 4 games this year.
Burnt Hills scoring 60 on them this year has nothing to do with last year.
Please give us some real information about how Burnt Hills is going to play Nyack. Don’t rely on rankings and teams from last year.
Knock another one off the list for Iona’s climb back to the top spot in NYS.
LINDENHURST 24
FLOYD 21
Floyd’s first loss in 42 games BUT they are out of the playoffs now.
Let’s ALL agree Hudson Valley best overall football in the state
Nyack vs Burnt Hills will be a real physical game, both teams are strong…We know BH’s main weapon is the qb Layton and the offense revolves around him, check out their highlights from lansingburgh earlier this year, Layton reminds me of a class A version of MW’s Scalo

Joe the Plumber:
Joe seems you have been sniffing the PVC glue a little too much this week. If you get caught taking all that glue home every night you know you will get fired. You need to go down to the union hall and seek professional help.
Jax, speaking of professional help, please do not miss your daily dose of XanaX. Relax and watch Nyack and just enjoy the ride.
Besides maybe it will rain again this week and help Nyack out.
