NY-NJ All-Star Classic: Today, 3 p.m.

I’m just about to leave the house and head down to Rutgers Stadium for today’s New York-New Jersey All-Star Classic. It’s airing live on MY9 and I’ll be blogging live throughout, so come back and comment if you’re watching.
Should be an interesting game. By interesting, I mean: Hopefully New Jersey doesn’t pummel New York. The rosters are always lopsided with Division I talent in NJ’s favor, but this year seems extreme. There are 34 D1s from Jersey, 10 for New York. Of the 34, 27 are going to BCS schools, including nine to Rutgers. Insane.
I wrote a preview for the game on Friday, which was really a feature story on Markell Rice. If you didn’t see it, it’s worth checking out. It discusses how he decided it was best for him to attend a military school in the fall and how the pressures of being “Ray Rice’s little brother” no longer bothers him. It once did, a lot. Markell is a good kid who I’ve seen grow up a lot in the last year. I’m happy for him.
My wild card in today’s game is Samad Wagstaff of New Rochelle. I feel that he and Moquan Dickens are going to dictate the game on both sides of the ball for New York. If those guys play as well as I anticipate, New York just might have a shot.
Prediction: New Jersey 24, New York 13

It sounds like the Section 1 Recruiting Combine went really well yesterday, which is good to hear, even though I expected it. Those guys did a fantastic job last year. I’d love to hear any other details.
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend. I was off yesterday and had a million things to do, including take my wife out to dinner for the first time in a month. Having two jobs is much tougher than anticipated and I think I’m reaching a point where I’ll have to pick one or the other. We’ll see.
