Football Pre-preseason Rankings
-
- June
- 2
With New York-New Jersey All-Star game scheduled for Sunday, the Section1Recruiting combine on Saturday, and camps coming up later in the month, I feel it’s time to kick the football season into gear.
Below is part one of my Camp Previews. It’s a simple Top 5 but it should be enough to open up the football dialogue. I’ll be posting some other football-related things over the next week or so, including Super 11 Nominees, Burning Camp Questions, sleepers and predictions, and a list of Must-See Camp events.
Feel free to comment on those things, as well as these rankings. These rankings were very difficult, especially in Class A, where I could have ranked 12 teams. I cannot wait for those games to start.
(Don’t worry basketball fans, I’ll still be posting plenty of info as I get it).

A quick note:
Long before I became the Varsity Insider, covering the prestigious sports of football and basketball, I paid my dues as a reporter on the high school golf beat. Yes, golf.
It doesn’t sound like much, but I really enjoyed it and it was a great way to break in. Anyway, today I received some of the best news I’ve gotten in 10 years as a reporter: Michael Quagliano of Ardsley qualified for the U.S. Open.
Quagliano, a senior at Duke, was the first high-profile, Division I athlete I covered. He was incredible to watch, even then when I wasn’t much of a golf fan. He was a ferocious competitor who intimidated, in the class of a Michael Coburn and Ray Rice. It’s weird comparing a golfer to a Division I basketball and NFL football player. But Quagliano had that same grit and was as dedicated to his craft as any athlete I’ve been around. When he was focused, nobody could stop him. And his competitors basically bowed down to him.
I know, you probably don’t think it’s a big deal because it’s golf. But trust me, this is a huge accomplishment. Congrats Mike.

does anyone know if the public can stop by and observe the sec1recruiting combine?
HL,
All are welcome to attend. Also, Electronic Arts (EA) is giving a presentation on their Computer Science Program with Morehouse University which I encourage any Minority Students with an interest in becoming a video game programmer to attend this part of the recruiting seminar. It will run from 12:30 – 1:30. Please email me at Keith.Fagan@Section1Recruiting.Com. You do not have to be a football player (or male, even though Morehouse is an All-male school) to attend the presentation, just have an interest in someday creating a video game. So far we have 15 coaches from 11 different schools committed to coach during the college coaching portion of the Player Evaluation Day, and the 40 yard dash will be run on the track (players can wear track shoes), so the 40 times should be a little faster this year. It was an amazing event last year, and should be even better this year. I hope the football players of Section 1 don’t regret not coming to the event if they decide to pass it up this year.
Kevin-
Thanks for the great insight-
Its too bad that the CHSAA does not have a Iona-Mount game scheduled this year- That has turned into a blood game as both coaches apparantly do not care for each other-
Also the Class A race should be the best that Westchester has to offer-
When do some of the major football camps get started?
Kevin,
I think you might have left EASTCHESTER off of your
rankings. Class A will be a fight to the end, but
please leaving the eagles out will come back to bite
you as it did last year! I think your new television
fame is not allowing you to think clearly!
I am very excited to see how Iona Prep does this season, they return a TON of talent at the skill positions, but they loose a superstar in Ryan O’neill, and also loose mostr of their line. This team should be extremely talented and I believe they should be giving St. Anthony’s a run for their money this season
Pretty good pre-season rankings. Only things i would change would be in class A. Nyack shouldnt be ahead of harrison. People are under estimating harrison. Also, John jay should be the #1 team in class A.
Great job Kevin! these rankings look great, only things I would change be Nanuet second to rye in class b. Also, Harrison is too low, they return some great talent, give them some props.
Kevin,
Do you think there is a team in class b that can challenge ane beat Rye this year??
yes, class A should be by far the best race of all, but I do have some issues with the A rankings. John Jay should be 1 and Eastchester should definatley be in the top 5. Look at how Harrison finished last year – three straight losses. Just because of their name and history they get the edge which is unjustified but whatever that’s just my opinion.
Kevin How are you doing this is the first time i’ve been on the blog since last season and i’m pretty excited for the upcoming Fall. Some of you bloggers on here might not like the Hype that this blog brings but i really do love it, it really does get me ready for the football season. I would like to just talk right now about the upcoming super 11 and who should be atleast considered. I watched a good amount of Section 1 and CHSFL football last year, but mostly only the playoffs i heavily watched . Here is an indept list of who to look out for Kevin for your Super 11.
Somers (my favorite team in sec1)
Matt Diena-Speedster
Rob Lombardo-Beast
NeW ROCHELLE
Tremayne Williams-Athlete
Johnny Mcgee-The Man
Ian Soloman- A monster
Harrison
Jeremy Burnett- Pure Football player
Claudio Della Carpini- Top 5 WR in Section
Justin Segal-Hitter
Byram Hills
Micheal Reda-Player to watch
Rye
Donald Keough- (Division 1 lacrosse player)Athlete
Kyle Ramalho-Captain Junior Year and a Monster Workhorse
Clark Antico- Overall Great Football Instincts
Patrick O’callahan- Smart, Disciplined- Leader
Iona Prep
Chris Alfano- Future College Player
Darlos James- Graceful athlete with speed and can also hit on D
Jeffrey Mack- Loves TO PLAY!
RIGHT NOW THIS IS ALL I HAVE FOR YOU WITH WHAT I’VE SEEN I WILL BE BACK WITH SOME OTHER PREVIEWS OF TEAMS AND PLAYERS TO WATCH IN 2008!
kevin,
Class A will definetly be competitive. What are the new alignments for leauges, being there are so many teams. I see eastchester is not in you top five. I was under the impression that they brought back most of thier defense?? What are your thoughts on Harrison?? Heard the jv was really bad this year.
John it seems like you know just about as much as anyone on the blog. I respect the players you picked and totally agree. Does anyone else feel wierd not seeing Harrison #1 at the top of class A. Maybe this year will be the year they get some leadership and decide to prove everyone wrong. Just maybe and Harrison JV was bad but there seniors should carry them.
harrison JV was not that bad, and they did have a couple freshmen go straight to varsity after an undefeated 8 th grade season. they will be sophomores this year and contribute and possibly star. Harrison is not in need of skill players, jeremy burnett will have an amazing year and so will segal and dellicarpini. They also have a QB ready to start next year. Phil dillulio. the JV brings up a skillful 6’3 275 OL, DL and a 6’1 270 kid, that will ease the loss of amato and sable. Also, harrison does bring back a host of supporting and starting players from last year. Look for them to beat somers come week 1 and take every1 by surprise.
john, nice list, but some of those players have no shot at the super 11. Pat O’callaghans a good player, but the super 11 is for the section1 blue-chippers, and he is not one of them.
Look for jeremy burnett of harrison to dominate.
Class A rankings last year were changed every week. Who knows whats going to happen. It’s going to be a season just like last one.
my locks for super 11 would have to be lombardo, diena, burnnet, and segal.
Hippo,
If noel sanchez Can make it,then O’callaghans got a chance.
Hey kev,
you might wanna rethink your rankings here because levi cohen of byram hills is leavin the school…he was the anchor of the team and a big hole to fill for a number 2 preseason ranked team..
FQ no way Harrison gets two Super 11 after last years season, wishful thinking…
Lombardo Somers
Alfano Iona Prep
Williams New Ro
James Iona Prep
Ramahlo Rye
Reid Mt. St Michael
CDC Harrison
Brundage Ossining
Easterling Stepinac
Brailsford Dobbs Ferry
Pope Mount Vernon
Honorable Mention
Deiana is Super 11 talent but after being injured last year and not getting all-section hard to justify him, especially as a Junior.
Mack Iona Prep I would put him on the list but no way Iona should have 3 Super 11, and the other two are D1 prospects.
and let devaney /the so called expert make the decision because he will be at more 7 on 7s and team camps than u will be and he have more knowledge of whos deserving. Super 11 is for Blue chip athletes haha what a joke how many d1 players did they have last year 1?
kev u never did a top ten memorable moments from the hoops season
hey kevin why not come by new rochelle high school this week, Gorton and New Rochelle are allready in camp. You can get an early read on both teams. And as far as super 11 goes, solomon is the best lineman in the section and deserves to be in it.
dellicarpini will probably be super 11 based on previous seasons, i dont see burnett making it, but he is definitely super 11 talent…but look for those three to carry harrison…also look out for sophomores tanner knox and duke alvora
john scocias…
you left out one of the best players in the county – maurice easterling (stepinac).
John, i dont think the Antico kid played a full season to be considered a super 11 player. Granted he did play well in the playoffs on and off with another kid when fulmer got hurt but i dont think thats enough to be Super 11. He has talent and heart but i dont know the criteria of what Kevin bases the super 11 on. Is it based on previous season peformance , camp performance, college looks, Hype, Combine stats, and other things like that ? If so i dont think he should make it. Kevin what do you base it on? Deina is not worthy of super 11 he is an amazing player but since he got injured i dont think he should make it. Another player to watch is the linemen from Pelham he is a big animal i forgot his name but he was the top linemen in section 1 last year according to Section 1 recruiting website. Harrison will win section 1 thats a guaruntee.

Hey John, to respond to your player watch i don’t think the Antico kid played a full season to be considered a super 11 player, granted he did play well in the playoffs on and off with another kid when Sam Fulmer got hurt but i don’t think thats enough to be Super 11. How bout those Vikings(clarkstown south) I think they sould be where you got Ramapoe @ Kev That St Joes transfer kid Sagz ,could be a major impact player on both sides of the ball who knows maybe even a super 11 Caliber type player, who didn’t see much light on o last year because of a strong senior class
Franco, i think south lost too much from last year to be considered up there. that transfer kid sag-something didn’t show much last year, i dont even know if south will be at the top of AA west
eastchester should definately be in the top 5 in class A in my opinion, but they seem to thrive when people underestimate them and are picked to lose (see lourdes, beacon, harrison, and somers from last year)
Does anyone know where Lombardo from Somers is leaning to for college? The position he’ll probably play at the next level and his measurables? 40 time, 225 reps, weight, ht…?Besides him, who are the other potential D1 players in the area? Thanks
Ramalho should be the only one from Rye to make super 11 keough antico and o’callahan are good but not super 11 players coming into the season, who knows maybe by november they might get to that level but not right now. I Also think Eastchester should be in the top 5 of Class A and Pleasantville should be #2 behind Rye.
idk where lombardo is goign but from what i hear him and diena are both getting big time looks
Class A will be a dog fight all year! Teams need to get
into the playoffs come October the cream will rise to the top. Remember alot of Kevins top five schools are playing
each other not only in league play, but also in cross over games. This will give everyone chance to see each other
before the sectionals. Harrison VS Somers!
Please stop with the Iona Prep D1 prospects/recruits bs
Section 1 Football is very competeive as is Iona Prep but to say 5 D1 players is non-sense! There arent likely 5 D1 players for Football in all of Section 1(and thats likely a strectch)
I know Keith Fagan is pumping you all up with his PED and Section1recruiting scam(by the way they do accept Mastercard and Visa) but stop..last year just how many recruits D1 were there from Section 1?
Winning a popularity contest(Super 11) doesnt make you a D1 recruit.
If Lombardo and Dienna are getting serious D-1 looks, there is some sort of a problem. Dienna is fast but will never hold up on the D-1 level, especially at halfback. Nigel Morris was a hell of a player and he only got to Toledo as a DB.
Lombardo runs straight up, so my guess would be linebacker for him.
I can’t see any high level D-1 program taking serious looks at either of these players right now. Let’s see how the season goes, and rememmber Dienna has another year, so don’t jump the gun on him.
I tired of hearing about all the “potential” D-1 players from section 1. Its all crap. We had a pretty good crop of kids last year and only a few went to D-1 schools. That should say something. Westchester is not New Jersey, Florida or Texas.
Some D-1 players are about, Ramalho from rye has a decent chance, hes jus under 6’0 now and 245 pds. I think Claudio Deli carpini`is headed to rutgers, not sure. Segal fom harrison is a possible D1 prospect, hes a hell of a hitter. Lombardo is a D1 target, Dienna is fast, but new york fast isnt that fast, not a D1 player. Tremayne willims is def a D1 player. Jeremy burnett is easily a D1 player, hes a load of talent, he just has to deliver this season.
hell yea d1, harrisons got three possible d1 recruits. Plus they bring up some big linemen from JV and return most of their team. Watch out for two runnin’n’gunnin sophomores duke alvora and tanner knox. Cant wait for Harrison v. somers. first challenge harrisons had before the RYE GAME in years.
treymayne williams ran a 4.72 at the blue grey combine and is no where near as fast as diana
deiana had 19 reps at the section 1 combine last yr after 9th grade which is a high amount for any state so to say he cant hold up would be a stupid assumption
Harrison dude
Sounds like you been talking to Keith Fagan…lol cash or charge?
Devon Brailsford is going to be a beast next year. Kid has had two unbelievable years as a freshman and sophomore, and has learned from 2 all state offensive players-frank scatt and trevor saunders, and matt higbie, all state 3rd team. He will put up huge stats next year.
Is Malone coming out of his cave on Saturday!
for next years the super 11 (my opinion):
Devon Brailford
Ian solomon
Claudio dellicarpini
lombardo
ramalho
jeremy burnett (hell have a big year)
justin segal
maurice easterling
darlos james
alfano
Tremayne williams
Star players, you are putting three harrison kids on the team…..only dellicarpini will make it even though the other two players have the talent. other that that good list. doesn anyone know any big game comin up next year other than the usual Rye-Harrison, john jay-new ro.
One i know is harrison vs. somers. any others.
so what teams does everyone think are the clear favorites in each class and what teams can make a run?
Devonte Brailsford from Dobbs Ferry is an animal. He has had two great seasons while hes had 2 other college players in the backfeild getting most the carries (Frank Scatteratico and Trevor Saunders, Higbie was an awesome runner as well). Hes about 6’1 205 expect big things from him this year. I dont know about d1 because hes in such a small class but you can expect big things….
Coaching experience and program stability are the keys to HS football. Most of these teams are at the top year after year, of teams that are new to the elite level, most recently got experienced coaches from other schools.
AD’s(and parents)if you’ve got a coach you believe in, leave him alone and let him build a program. Evaluate only after about 5 years or so.
Ramalho is a beast but hes at a size disadvantage and i dont know if hes d1 material. His stats arent ridiculous but hes for sure a workhorse. I’d say Deli Caprini just on pure athletisicm is a d1 player. He needs to get the ball way more this season for him really to be evaluated.
Kyle Ramalho
Darlos James
Justin Segal
CLaudio Deli Caprini
Alfano
Devonte Brailsford
Rob Lombardo
Tremayne Williams
Maurice Easterling
who the rest are i have no idea..
i think alot of you are underestimating what it takes to become a d1 player. I think all of us can agree that Paris Walker was the best running back in section one last year. He is going to prep school, and had 1 d1aa offer. Thats it. So any running backs you guys are touting as d1 from rye and harrison and somers just realize it takes ALOT to get an offer. for running backs lombardo is the only one i see with a chance. has to bulk up weight wise, and ramalho is just not a good enough runner to be a d1 player.
*deanna has to bulk up weight wise
A program that is clearly on the rise is eastchester. In the past three years they’ve accumulated a record of 21-6, there numbers have grown, their players are bigger, and they are beginning to knock off some big time schools. You mention three kids from harrison who deserve to be super 11, and nobody mentions anyone from eastchester, yet they bullied somers and harrison on the field. (Please look at the stats, it’s simply amazing the amount of yardage is almost doubled against harrison, yes with burnett and segal playing defense) and yet eastchester’s qb, and offensive line get no credit. Mike todino, Kevin doherty, two three year starters.
Here is a stat that should turn some people’s heads: Eastchester returns 8 defensive players next year, Most of them were somphmores last year (5) Last year they were in the top two or three of points allowed. 112. The sophmores are bigger, and stronger and wiser. Eastchester is a front runner. Don’t be fooled
Some of the big games this year-
New Rochelle-Carmel
New Rochelle-North Rockland
North Rockland-Ramapo
Iona Prep-St. Anthony
Iona Prep-New Caneen CT
Iona Prep – Stepinac
Rye-Harrison
Rye-Pleasantville
Harrison-Somers
Carmel-John Jay EF
Eastchester-Somers
Mount St. Michael-Fordham Prep
Stepinac-White Plains ??
Iona Prep- New Rochelle ??
I probably missed a few so please feel free to add.
diana is 180 lbs or more so i dont think he needs to bulk up weight wise, rice was 190 going into college, and speed is way more important than size
diana is not ray rice and not built like rice was. They are not comparable
what notable players r coming back for pville next season?
Rice was 188 as a senior with a 4.59 and benched 185 17 times. diana has already beat all of those numbers so theirs no reason to say that. rice wasn;t a huge recruit out of high school, he was able to work hard and get much better in college, so dont say they arent comparable
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=25332
and i am only saying they are comparable if u compare them at the same ages in high school
Harrison’s line is going to have a big this year they have one tackle Robert Jones (6’ 260) who started opposite Sable last year and Micheal Protano (6’ 275) started on D and rotated in on o last year.
rice was closer to 200 than he was to 188 in high school and i no for a fact he benched more than 185 17 times dieanna isnt even comparable to ray rice
click on the link, those are his stats heading into his senior year.they dont lie so u dont know anything for a fact, and if rice was closer to 200lbs than y is he only 200 lbs now
eastchester, u beat harrison by one point when harrison was having down year and u guys are having an up year. plus harrison was injury riddled. eastchester does not compare to harrison, so be quiet. Not only is harrison returning the best set of skill players in section1 class A. they return a big line if you look at combine fans post just ahead. plus they got a 6’3 270 kid comin up and a 6’1 265 kid. Harrison is set to beat on easchester this year. and to win section1 class A.
Also to tag along with jeremy burnett, justin segal, and dellicarpini are a great supporting cast of juniors comin back. sophomores that were freshmen on varsity last year (most notably tanner knox and duke alvora.) The line will be very big. Harrison is gonna beat somers come week 1.
The Iona Prep football camp will be the camp to see.
You harrison fans are really hard headed. And when dieanna leads his team to a state championship then he can be compared to ray rice.
what players are coming back to sleepy hollow?? section1 guy do think they will have a chance in class A???
Old School, the fact is that Lombardo barring injury will be at a D1 school next year. While Section 1 is not South Fla. or even Bergen County, we do get some kids to go D1. This forum is all about spreading information. I havent heard anyone write that Lombardo is the next Leonard or Bernstein. But if every college recruiter had your attitude the kids from the area that have gone D1 one and made an impact would be going top Cortland. Also, last years senior class was extremely weak. The whole Section was down as evidnced by one Chip.
The best player from the area hands down is a kid that went to Iona Prep and is now at Trinity Pawling, Dillon Quinn. A top 10 player at his position( nationally) and probably the best prospect in NY. A 4 star player on Rivals and this rating will go up after his senior year
FQ That Sagz kid Saglimbeni, Clarkstown South 1AA west, ran a 475@blue grey combine(Tues. Night under fullbacks) and hes a whoping 230 @6’and bench 20 time Beast He’s for sure a sleeper!!!!!He’s up ther with big D from r
JUST A FAN1,
Sleepy Hollow lost ALOT ALOT of their main/core players, so its going to be a tough year for them. I wouldnt expect too much out of them.
How is Pleasantville 3rd in class B. I find that to be a laugh. Briarcliff will knock them off this year. They are way to cocky and they graduated most of their offense and defense. I can see another “upset” comin from the Bears. Bring it on Pville and please say your prayers because your gonna need them this year.
i heard dillon quinn will be at the sec1recruiting combine saturday, who else is going?
Frat Boy
Maybe you should go back and look at the stats from
the Eastchester VS Harrison Game last year! Eastchester
doubled them in plays and out gained them rushing by a two
to one margin and let’s not talk about time of posssion!
Don’t under estimate the Eagles like you did last year!
You guys are nuts not having Tremayne Williams or Ian Soloman on your super 11 list…
T. Williams – Great Athlete, Sick Hands..MSG MVP vs North Rockland, and Defensive MVP vs Monroe Last Year
I. Soloman – Great run blocker, Beast, Kills Dlineman, 2 Year starter for the best team hands down in section 1.
And for the record..Both these kids are getting legitament d1 and d1-aa looks.
Besides these two stars i’ll also throw in my next 9 for super 11..
3. Rob Lombardo (Deffinatley)
4. Darlos James (Most Likley)
5. Kyle Ramahlo (Almost Deffinate)
6. Alfano from Iona Prep (Just bc the season he had last year but still might not happen)
7. Devonte Brailsford(Starter for Dobbs Ferry thru there State playoff after state playoff appearences, But not even close to the level as Soloman.)
8. Delli Carpini(Harrison) Supperior athlete if its at football, or Track..Bet he”ll have a standout year in classA
9. Maurice Easterling (Stepinac) – Played a major role in the catholic league championship team in AA( Most likley not but possible)
10. Deiana (this isnt close to being a deffinate, but this year doesnt seem like its been as strong to be in years past
11. Lets put a dlineman in there..What the hell…either Schmerhorn from Fox Lane or Robert Pope from Mt. Vernon..Im leaning towards Pope
On the bubble:
Mike Fasono – No. Rockland
theres about a hand full of others but im having troble remembering most of them..I would say out of my list of 13 theres about 7 deffinate right now
T. Williams
I. Solomann
Lombardo
K. Ramahlo
C. delli Carpini
Dont take any offense if your name wasnt mentioned. im just a section 1 enthusist…
I think class A will be a lot like the NFL in terms of parity. A bunch of teams with legit shots at the section title.
As for Eastchester, they beat 3 of the teams in the this years pre-season top 5. All close games. The Eagles deserve a mention with the others on the list, maybe a tie for 5th with Harrison.
Frat Boy,
You obviously wrote that when you were drunk. I know you may have had some difficulty reading what i wrote, so reread it with your tutor tomorrow. Eastchester started the Harrison game last year with four sophmores and a freshemn on defense. You’re telling me that we were on an up year, it only gets better. And as far as those big boys who are coming up to varsity, were they the one’s who our Jv whopped up on 21-0?? Eastchester’s Jv last year had mostly freshmen. I give harrison some props, they are a great team, and had a nice run, but easthcester is returning much of it’s talent from last year, with some great new players emerging.
Also remember that one point stopped a 24 game class A win streak, and started a 3 game class a losing streak.
Frat Boy,
Injuries didn’t stop Eastchester when they beat somers 12-10. They were missing their center, tight end, and saftey. Against Harrison they were missing their center, and linebacker. Injuries are an excuse used by sore losers
Eastchester,
Eastchester will not sneak up on anyone this year with
the triple option, they ran it to perfection last year.
The problem lies when the must throw the football. What will
you do then? You may have dominated Harrison on the ground
but it still took you a hail mary pass to win. So what does that say for your team!
Harrison is bringing up great talent too, and returning it. dont even talk about harrison Jv because they had players go straight to varsity, some of the best young talent in the area. Plus the trio of Dellicarpini, segal, and burnett along with a big, physical line and a QB ready to step up will dominate.
i cant wait for next years rye-harrison game, this game will not be won in the trenches in my opinion. Their lines will cancel each other out. the LB cores will decide a lot of the game and the skill players. Harrison has burnett and segal at LB and rye has keough and antico. I am cheering for harrison, but wish rye luck. I dont think harrison can stand to lose one more time to rye.
If you speak to any Harrison alumni out there when it
comes to Rye vs Harrison it’s about making adjustment
during the game and at halftime this is were your head coach, gets out coached by DINO year in and year out. Look for the same performance as last year enough said. Ask your football alums from Harrison they all concur!
No doubt Harrison will be good, but, nothing indicates that they will win the section. Big lines are nice to have, but won’t necessarilly produce wins. Ask Beacon.
I have heard John Jay lost a lot, Somers has to produce a better O-line, Nyack was young and no doubt will be better than last year, Harrison will be about the same (unless you have some last minute transfers in), Eastchester will be improved due to more experience and depth from next years talent ridden Junior class, Ossining I haven’t seen play, but they won it last year so I expect them to be solid again, Fox Lane losses a lot too.
Go Eagles,
How do you replace two all section running backs at Eastchester! Can we expect the leading rushing team in the
state last year to mix in more passing or will they still
be one dimensional!
Harrison is going to be better than last year, barring injury. they return all their stars and harvest young talent.
john, i agree with you about the rye-harrison game. I mean this year rye looked no better than harrison and still won 27-7. I think we all know ryes 06’ team was not as good as harrisons. Dino outcoached Troilo.

The O-line has three quality starters returning and the two new kids are very good, both were starting on Varsity D last year. Doherty is up to about 6’5” and 250.
Plug in Chris Perigini to replace Byrne and Johnny Martin to replace Costanzo. Both started on D last year as well.
But I think they will run the same old option with no new wrinkles, to give the other guys a chance.
I’m pretty sure the coaches realize they will need to find ways to move the ball when opposing defenses play up to stop the run.
All this talk about Dienna’s speed, and everyone forgets how James “Man-Man” Brundage chased him down in the first Ossining/Somers game last year when Dienna had a ten yard head start. Then Brundage leveled him. Check it on youtube.
go eagles,
the competition in Class A will be very strong this year
you need to be adverse with new wrinkles!

THE BRIARCLIFF BEARS WILL SNEAK UP ON EVRYONE THIS YEAR. THEY GET NO LOVE AND I PROMISE THEY WILL CONTEND FOR A SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP. WATCH OUT PVILLE. YOU DONT DESERVE TO BE ON THE TOP 5 LIST IN CLASS B AND WE WILL SHOW EVERYONE WHY.
the briarcliff bears are going to be sneaking up on no one, they are not good.
Teams that will sneak up on yout his year;
Eastchester
Fox Lane
Nanuet
Harrison ( conidering they are pre-season #5 with allt he talent they have)
rye neck
Fordham
North Rockland
Deiana had a sprained ankle and a sprained knee and popped a sac in it so i wouldnt brag too much consider he didnt play one game last year higher than 75% and he didnt have a 10 yard start, brundage was in his full sprint before deiana got out of his cut.nd its also prtty easy to level some1 blindsided. you can asked brundage himself nd i would guarantee he wouldnt wanna go head to head with deiana.
whos coming back for pville next year? From wat i saw they couldnt really throw the ball and they’re losing their two running backs Defabio and Carr Harris
Is the super 11 just seniors? Because then you can throw out Deiena from Somers and Brailsford from Dobbs Ferry, theyve had 2 exceptional seasons however they will only be juniors this year..Definate locks for next year..
That big animal from Pelham is Ted Keyser, sorry sec1recruiting but that was an awful call on your behalf. The kid didn’t even start for Pelham on offense…. He isn’t the best guard on his team, let along the best lineman in the entire class. Scalisci, #62, is MUCH better than him. He is leaner, stronger, and faster than Keyser.
What are people thinking of Pelham next year? I know they lost Vetrano, O’connor, johnson and szymanski, but they have some good young players on the team.
this is pretty pathetic that their are people degrading high school athletes on here. don’t act as like you are a college scout and know what you are talking about.maybe one kids good enough and another isn’t,but that isn’t any1 on heres choice to make.leave these kids alone because they work 20 times as hard as the people posting on here and dont deserve bad posts about tem
I think we can add Harrison v. Eastchester to that most anticipated games list! That should be fun
can someone please tell me what B.HIlls,P’ville,Nanuet and P.V and which team has best chacne to challenge Rye
**what those teams have coming back sry forgot to say that
none of those teams can truly challenge rye, but the ones with the best chance are nanuet and pleasantville. the class B race isnt really close. Unlike class A where who knows if harrison is gonna beat somers or if eastchester is going to beat ossining.
Is the antico some of you are talking about ….the brother of Erik Antico now at Georgetown and two time first team all state and a former super 11 player?
A Varsity recruit to look out for This Saturday at the Section 1 Combine ” Sagz ” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN7q5IKbnU4
section1 fan….......duh its his brother, but hes not quite as good as his brother.
please please please do not compare deanna to ray rice. Ray was feared. FEARED. and he was playing against better competition, and was a dominat defensive player. When deanna takes over games and has the rest of class a afriad to go up against him, then you can call him a d1 recruit. right no he is at best 1aa material.
deiana was only in 10th grade this past yr, and he was feared in his freshman yr, ask any team who played him bc the box was loaded to stop him. im not saying hes ray rice by all means, but he has the same playing style as him nd his combine numbers are better nd he is a d-1 player with no doubt.
nd class a will be more competitive this year than aa so the competition will be fine
dude the kid from somers is good. Ray Rice was unstoppable. Look at how many carries he got in a game in highschool, maybe 6-8 a game he was unfair, every single time he touched the ball it was like 11 kids trying to tackle him, some not being able to catch up to him while others would just get run over. Combine numbers are great but highly overated. Deiena is good but a huge size disadvantage and due to injuries hasnt really had the RIDICULOUS stats he needs at his stature. He is extremely quick and very strong for his size but if im a d1a coach im looking at Lombardo. That kid is an animal. Theyre both very talented backs and I wish them all the best and I sure do hope they both go d1a so that they can represent westchester but dude…comparing him to Ray Rice? Thats absolutely absurd.
Yo Butkus This is what Sags Did http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN7q5IKbnU4
i think sleepy will surprise every1. you cant sleep on them. they did make it to the finals last year. and there Oline is back. there are more core players on the team, they lost some but ive noticed every year sine 01..there in the playoffs everyone is sleeping on them. same with the b-cliff bears.
Sleepy’s is graduating almost all of their stars., they will not have a good year. Briarcliff is not good. Eastchester is a team everyones sleeping on. i think nanuet is gonn have a good year and surprise people. harrison is pre-season #5 in class A but they are just as talented if not more than #1 somers.
I personally belive that sleepy-ossining is going to be a great game…ive been hearing people talk and i hear that thousands of people are going to game…even though sleepy is down this year its great to have that rivalry back
Sleepy is going to be AWFUL. They lose EVERYONE, what do you mean they have their O-Line back? Bronner was their best lineman and he’s gone.
thank you wow
rye is going to win again most likely, not that many teams that can challenge them
News flash!!! I hear Sleepy Hollow is going to cancel the season because they graduated all of thier stars and have to move up to class A. Kind of like eastchester did when they had to move up to A. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.
Antico and all those Rye bums will get there a$$es handed to them come first game of the season. I can’t wait to see the panthers shock the landscape of class B and all of NY state.
p-ville that is just ignorant, and im into even a rye fan. P-ville guranteed will not even challenge Rye. The only competitive game rye is gonna have all regular season is harrison, and i still think they win that.
iona power,i agree mt iona should play this year.do schools make games or CHSAA? last year from what i read on this blog mt coach did not shake iona’s coaches hand after loss.if this is a fact it is not what we were taught by HOWIE SMITH.i only hope i have blog info which is incorrect.next,KEVIN,mount loses in final to st anthonys and you make iona #1 over mt.both teams have a ton of players back.oh,i forgot, you picked NE over giants.i hear my man WILLIAM WILLIAMS will be captain for ny team in ESG.he made 1ST team CHSAA with two from st raymonds and big kid fron all hollows who is going to st anthonies.
whos comin back for pville?????????
P-ville all the way is obviously from Briarcliff and trying to start trouible between the Panthers and Rye. Can’t see anyone from Pleasantville dumb enough to start insulting Rye when they’re playing the first game of the year.
Dr. E i agree with you, most teams are just jealous of all the success ryes had. they’ve lost 2 games the past 4 seasons. They try to start trouble with them. Even some harrison fans are doing it. And they should be jealous of nothing, they have a better football history than even rye. And i think they have a decent shot at beating rye next year. Unlike briarcliff and pleasantville which are two teams that are going to get beat in by rye.
can someon please tell me who B.Hills,p’ville, nanuet and Put valley have coming back and who is strongest contender to challenge rye
Mr. Volo
First off I hope you are enjoying that nice Florida weather-
This year Iona-Mount will not play unless it is in the playoffs- The CHSFL AAA is now comprised of 12 teams – Stepinac, Fordham Prep, Holy Cross, and St. Francis Prep have moved up from AA. I believe each team plays 7 league games and two non league games. The league uses the piner system to determine the power rankings and strength of schedule. In other words St. Anthony and Chaminade who are ranked 1-2 will play a harder league schedule than Fordham and Stepinac. The rankings were as follows St. Anthony, Chaminade, Farrell, St. Joseph, Holy Trinity,Iona, Mount,Xaverian, Stepinac, Holy Cross, Fordham, St. Francis.
As far as the Mount coach Valentini- Lets just say he does not have a liking toward the Iona coaches.
Mr. Volo
To answer your question about the schedule- The league makes the 7 league games while each team must schedule their own non league games- This year Iona will play Stepinac but it will be a non league game that does not count toward the AAA standings. I know for a fact that Iona had trouble finding their other non league game after Fordham Prep apparantly refused to play them during the opening week. Iona will open against the CT State Champion New Caneen dring the first week.
WoW, new canaan vs. iona sound slike a good game. We already know the best of NY can not beat NJ. St. anthony’s vs. don bosco. But now well see how we match up verse connecticut.
first down
Iona was very close to scheduling Monroe Woodbury but section 9 caused some problems and the game could not be scheduled. Iona – Fordham would have been a good rivalry game but unfortunately Fordham was not interested. With schedule that Iona has playing the large school defending state champ New Caneen is going to be a tough opener.
i thought Greenwich was the defending big school state champ??
First down
according to the New Cannen football website they won the championship in 2006 and 2007. They beat Hand 34-30.
Sat. Dec. 1
CIAC Finals, vs. Hand at Trumbull
2:00pm
W 34-30
iona power, thank you.will watch belmont stakes and root against BB.MY friend W OODY Stevens won 5 belmonts in a row with only feeding horses oats and water.my next sport next to BB is horse racing.
IONA POWER,nick zito started with Woody,so he has 2 horses in belmont,i play 50$ on horse that loses.his other one pays 80$,2000$ mistake.1/2 years fee at mount.just venting, you are only one who listens.my wife says only because you do not know me.
Kevin,
What players are coming back for pville and does anyone in class B have a shot to beat rye?
Just so you are aware Conn teams cannot open till one week later than New York – New Canaan game. New Canaan is playing contest as a scrimmage- Iona is playing game as a game. game will not count on New Canaan record
briarcliff is gonna get run over by p-ville this year. to sec 1, the teams in class B that have the best shot at Rye are P-ville first game and Nanuet second. P-ville brings back a strong junior class although they lost 3 of their top 4 leading rushers and 2 top recievers. one of the 3 rushers lost was their qb. Nanuet brings up a strong sophmore class, and returns 3 of their 4 leading rushers, 2 of whom are sophmores, and 1 of those sophmores their qb. Byram Hills finished 3-5 last year and lose 3 of their top 4 rushers, however the one they bring back was their leading rusher, along with their qb putting them unrealistically at the number 2 spot.
Fox Lane Baby!!
who are the best returning players in class B?
iona power:
aaa in the chsaa is aaa, everyone plays a very tough schedule.
the fact that stepinac, mount, fordham, and iona do not play each other once a year is an absolute disgrace and is destroying the history of rivalries with the chsfl!
so iona is not going to play mount or fordham, but they are playing new caanen – that’s ridiculous and shame on fordham and mount for not wanting to schedule the game with iona and very happy that stepinac is still playing the game – at least you will have one good rivalry game in the chsfl!
i believe the bitterness with SOME of the coach’s in the league toward iona stems from the heavy recruiting and giving scholarships, oh i mean financial aide- but regardless they should still schedule the game!
don’t want to start airing dirty laundry but their might be a reason for valentini feeling the way he does (if he even does have bad blood toward iona) – he is a very well respected coach and has a solid program – i believe they made it to the championship game 2 years in a row.
bloggers tend to hear 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 sides of a story and never the TRUTH!
FYI
Iona never asked Mount to play a non – league game. Since the league did not assign Iona – Mount a league game the only way they would play is in the playoffs. That is a fact.
Valentini has bad blood toward Iona due to some of the younger talent from the Bronx and Mt. Vernon area choosing Iona. I guess he thinks they are supposed to go to Mount. The same situation is happening in Basketball with Mount and Stepinac because the Mount coach is mad that a top player at Stepinac was supposed to go to Mount.
As far as recruiting Mount has players on their football and basketball team that have sponsors paying tuition.
iona power, there are students at mount who have sponsors and some play sports.i know for a fact that the student i sponsor pays 1/2 of his own tuition.if iona or stepinac give full rides i do not see this as a problem.i wish the mount did but the powers to be do not.i played BB at a small college but have no contact with that school.my roots go back to the mt. and i try to give a little back.i do not know too much about next years football team but BB team will be as good as any in A DIV.
Harrison is being severely underestimated this year. Their Offensive Line is over 6 Feet tall and weighs over 250 pounds. The Offense has never looked better with Justin Segal and Workhorse Jeremy Burnett. Along with Phil Dulilio Running the offense Harrison looks very promising. Claudio will also have a breakout year. Rising Sophomores Duke Alvora, Tanner Knox, and Brandon Bonistall are looking to add to the team. Duke has a very good chance of starting along with tanner getting into the offensive rotation. Rising Juniors Jason Brown and Jack Molloy are coming up from the JV. Jason Brown is an excellent lineman with good footwork and Jack looks to add to special teams as he helped the JV Huskies win two games with his placekicking. (Nyack 15-12 and Ossining 3-0) There is a large talent pool in the Junior Class and more stand out players such as Mark Calaguri 6’2” 225 lineman and others. Seniors Mike Protano, Rob Jones, Phil Dulilio, Sam Goldman, Justin Segal, JB, and Claudio lead the Huskies.
Defensively the Huskies look better than ever with a solid line and backing core. The secondary also looks very good with Jeremy Burnett at Corner.
Overall the public is ignoring a severely good Harrison football team.
Football Fan just stop talking …. Rye will run all over Harrison next year case closed.
so I suppose every single player on Harrison is a superstar
I agree with you football fan. Harrison is returning the best set of skill players in section 1 class A. Jeremy burnett 6’0 195 is actually a LB and with justin segal 5’11 215 will create a monster duo. On offense jeremy burnett and claudio D 6’1 185 will explode. Phil dillulio 6’0 180 looks ready to carry the load. The line will be big with jones and protano a 6’1 and 6’0 265 pd. plus guys. Add jason brown 6’1 265 and mark caliguiri who is actually about 6’3 260 and the line is beastly. Im pickin harriosn to win next years rye game as long as troilo can get the job done on the sideline. I dont see any reason why a rye team that loses all of their stars, except ramalho would bea a harrison team that is putting together a better team on the field than last year. And im not even that big of a harriosn fan, i cheer for port chester and sleepy hollow.
who are the top returning players in class b
S1, who cares.
Section 4, i dont think harrisons team is gonna be that good. But who knows, i could see them beating rye and winning section 1 class A.
Section 4,
Great insight to harrisons roster, however remember there
is more pressure on the head coach to win! He’s been outcoached by DINO the last couple of years and it looks
like history will repeat its self. Having talent is great
how you use it is another thing
Yes that is true as long as troilo gets work done on the sideline there is no reason why Harrison cannot win.
If I recall correctly i beileve this years players, when they were on J.V., tied rye 14-14. There was some descrepencies with the time and such towards the end. (Harrison Ball on the 20 2 secound left) supposiveley but that doesn’t matter. It will be a good game for sure.
Section4 that was some good insight on a talented harrison team. i think they can get the job done against rye and all section 1 class A opponents if Troilo does his duty. hes a great, i cant remember the last time shes had a losing record, if he ever has. Dino just seems to outcaoch him, most notably the 2006 game in which harrison was surely better than rye. The 2007 game was jus a culmination of a Robbie williams interception in harrison territory. Burnett fumbling the punt on harrisons own 5 yard line and injuries. But rye was probably a little bit better than harrison, the game should ahve been a close rye win.
MrVolo,
I just wanted to say that you sound a like a great guy and I think its fantastic that you still support the Mount and its current students (including a particularly talented PG). I know Mount, Stepinac, Iona and I’m sure Fordham are all very fortunate to have great alumni that help keep the schools going. p.s. I didn’t shed any tears at Big Brown’s loss either.
IonaPower,
I completely agree with you about the lack of Mount-Iona and Iona-FOrdham matchups. Regardless of Valentini’s bad blood with Quirolo over Iona loading up on players in this year’s sophomore class – Mount should want to play Iona every year. They are two of the better football programs in New York and are 10 miles or less apart. Its not as if Iona is killing Mount regardless of who they brought in. Mount will likely always be competitive with their system.
I believe Fyi is correct about the reasons for the bad blood from Mount’s football and basketball programs towards Iona and Stepinac, respectively. Mount has had great athletes and great teams forever, they shouldn’t be complaining over a couple players. I don’t remember hearing Stepinac or Iona crying when Jarrett Lockhart chose Mount. As fans, we’re all lucky that there is so much parity between these three schools in all the major sports the last couple years.
A lot of the Mount/Iona beef comes from Iona trying to take kids that currently played for Mount and get them to play for the Gaels.THis was a complete fact 8 years ago when I had close ties to both. I dont know if this has been squashed, however, this was one of the origins.Vic has proven to be a GREAT coach in football and hoops.
Football fan
Remember Harrison is on a three game losing streak to end
the season last year, if they lose opening day to SOMERS watch all the boo-birds come out. In week four they play RYE another tough game, luck has it this year both games are non league games so they can still regroup and make the playoffs in class A. Artie needs to win one of these two games or you might see the wheels come off like last year!
stop talking about harrison….i know they’ve had an amazing history but thats the past…live in the now…they’re not a top A team in my opinion
A
If Harrison is not a top A team then who is?
Harrison is going to be the top tea in class A next year. I think they will beat somers coem week 1. The only reason somers is hyped is b/c of lombardo and deaina. Well harrison has burnett and segal and they are just as good. Harrison has the better and bigger line and better wideouts and QB.
Class A is going to be tight this year. My pick is harrison, they are just so talented they will overwhelm most opponents. Unlike last year they dont have to completely re-load. They return their stars and re-load with some great young guys. They will beat somers, they are overhyped and dont have a deep as a talent pool as harrison. Nyack is for sure goin to be better and challenge the front-runners. Eastchester looks solid. Fox Lane looks weak in my opionion. John Jay loses alot of talent, but they will re-load. Ossining loses a core of their talent, but retuens some good players. They will challenge and possibly win Class A. Also i think alot people are hating on harrison b/c they want their “reign” of dominanace to end, which i dont think it will.
pre-season
1. harrison
2. nyack
3. somers
4. ossining
5. John Jay
I really don’t understand why you guys keep trying to convince yourself Harrison is a top team in Class A. They weren’t that good last year. And their not going to be this up coming season. claudio is good. Segal is alright. And burnett I have no idea who he is. When New Rochelle scrimmaged Harrison last year. claudio was the only kid that stood out. It takes more than 3 players to win games. Somers is bringing back a very talented team. I also know john hay shouldn’t be ranked as a top team. They loss everybody except J.K.’s brother.
If you dont know who jeremy burnett is, you will by the end of this season, he is a 6’0 195 RB, LB who runs a 4.5 and is a great defensive player. Segal is a very good natural tackler and player. i think we all know claudio is great. The line will be big and athletic. QB phil dillulio is good. Harriosn is a top contender. As class A said everyone wants harrisons “reign” of dominance to end. which it wont.
I agree class A is going to be very competitive. My pick is, i hate to say it, Harrison. They return a talented team as well bringing up the best class of young guys around. They have some very talented sophomores who will get some playing, wh were on varsity las year a freshman. Their line will be especially good. Why does everyone try to put harrison down. They obviously want their team to become the “new” harrison, harrison will beat ms=ost teams in. Somers comes in second, they will lose to harrison come week 1. Nyack third. Ossining fourth. Eastchester fifth. John Jay and Fox lane struggle.
hoops fan, thanks.if mount gets to semi’s in BB i will be at games in march.i am in NY over holidays and caught two games last year.it would be nice if iona and mt.get to slam dunk at county center.HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL THE FATHERS.
Hippo if you say he does… This kid is going to be another joe denti…
Jeremy burnett is not joe denti, he is much better and will explode to be one of the best players in Class A and the section. Hes a future college football player.
Jeremy burnett is an explosive player and will break out his senior year, as for the rest for the rest of harrison, they look good next year, not great though. There isnt really a “great” class A team for next year, neither was there last year. You could make an argument the 2006 harrison squad was great, but they slipped up badly against cornwall in the playoffs. My prediction is that harrison beats somers week 1 and wins class A, but doesnt go to states. Eveyone is under-estimating john jay, they be alright, not bad. Nyack will be “better”. Ossining will be Ok. Fox lane loses everyone, thye will ahve a bad year.
Look for eastchester to surprise everyone in class A. They seem to do it well. They return the core of a good team.
My preseason Claaa A rankings-
1. harrison ( they are good, why does kevin rank them last)
2. somers
3. eastchester
4. nyack
5. John Jay
Funny, how last year harrison had to completely re-load with untested players, but kevin ranked them pre-season #1. This year they return there 3 main stars, unless you considered sable a star. And they re-load with the best young talent in the area. Yet, they are pre-season #5. Explain Yourself kevin.
Somers is going to win section 1 class A. It is that simple.
Eastchester, thank u for ranking harrison number 1. But dont get excited. Eastchester beat harrison, when robble williams was injured, by one point. when harrison was having a down year, for them, and eastchetser was having an up year. The I, harrison is going to beat somers in week 1. Harrison will have the best line in section 1 class A, the best RB and Fb tandem, segal and burnett. Sorry deaina and lombardo. Burnett is a bigger verison of deaina, but hes jus as fast and this year he knos the offense. They will have the best WR in section1 class A, CDC, this no1 can argue. The QB phil dillulio is ready. They have a couple of sophomores ready to step up as well. Prepare to cry.
a bigger version of diana? kid benches over 350 and has been clocked in 4.4 range.and segal and lombardo is a joke of a comparsion.lombardo rushes for my yards in a game than segal does in a season
Matt deaina is 5’7 180, jeremy burnett is 6’0 200 and runs a 4.5 and has great defensive instinct. Segal is a more instinctive and better player on defense than lombardo. and lombardo is slightly better on offense. Harrison has the better line for sure. and better wideouts and QB.
I stand by my prediction Somers class A champs.
harrison and somers will be good. Fox Lane is returning some key players and will suprise teams. Ossining will compete also
What do people think about Greeley. I know they sucked last year but they are moving down from Class AA to Class A.
if burnett is that fast, why didn’t he go to the section 1 combine and prove it?
Butnett was taking the SAt and it lasted until after 12.
Um? how could any one ever say that segal-burnett combination is better then deiana-lombardo combination
Segal-burnett is not as good as lombardo-deaina, but they are close. Harrison does have the better O-line and especially D-line and better wideouts.
people are forgetting about haas from somers who is another major player for somers and can match up with anyone in the section
whats going on with the byes on the class A south scheduels, are they being filled with other non-league games?
We’ll see how burnett does, people are making him out to be one of the best players in class A and the section. Harrisons secret weapon. Segal is not quite the player lombardo is, but he might be better on D. Harrison vs. somers will be the marquee regualr seaosn game of Class A. They match up pretty well. But harrison does have the better line and wideouts. QB, i dont know who has the better one. Im picking harrison by 1 to 2 TD’s.
Harrison Dog,
And Dino Garr and Rye will humble you again, sending your mediocre football program back to nowhere!
I have waited for football to begin again for these reasons: the Harrison Huskies 2008-2009. Claudio Delli Carpine, a great end, but Sam Goldman as well on the other side, and aho s this guy Cody they have been talking about? Jeremy Burnett looks like the hulk I pity the other teams, and Justin Segal. I love this young team already. Don’t forget Tanner Knox (who breathes for football) and Branden Bonnistal(a true wild man). I have heard Duke Avora called many things leader, motivator, but never “runin’ and gunnin’” Not my quote, but then again someone called me a “guido train wreck”last year the greatest compliment I have ever recieved since I am of German-Irish descent.
One should not forget our quarterback who has a gun for an arm.How you doi’ Phil Dillulio? He had one when he was playing Little League and has gotten tough and mean at football. My kind of guy.But the man Art Troilo Jr. is the glue. He is forever dedicated to these young men year after year and they to him. Loyalty cuts both ways men. Time to step up. Remember though all games are won by who controls the ball on both sides of the ball. The Offense and Defensive line. Games are won by the offense but championships by the line and especially the defense. What’s up meat?
John E. Shades, Harrison
some good insight john e. shades, i also belive in harrison this year, u should never count them out of anygame espically the rye game septemebr 27th
Dear Watch Out and Rerun
It’s good to be talking football again but with all respect Segal and Burnett are not the Harrison Huskies. There are a lot of new players on the team(freshmen now very talented sophmores, seasoned Jr’s and some incredible seniors. I like the grunts. O,that line!
Robert Jones, Michael Protano, Andrea Morano, Leny Callagy (gain ten ponds boy but that meat on!), Duks Alvora (heart and soul), Zac Lucien, and my favorite animal Nick Chilelli chip off the old block, and more to write about another time. Those hogs made me look good as a linebacker. I can’t wait to see Lombardo-Deaina run this year. I hear so much but have not seen them that much personaly.
As far as Somers vs Harrison it will be the season game for both in my opinon but I think the Sept. 27th Rye-Harrison game will be more than bragging rights for both. I think that game will determine the whole year for both. It’s a head thing. Garr is in people’s head, but he don’t get out there and play do you Dino?
I don’t know how it came to Art T. having to prove something because od Dino Garr of Rye after his year’s of work. He lives , breathes, thinks this game and is always there for every young man on that field. He makes every one, “who gives an effort” as Caoch Williams says, that feeling that they are the only player our there. When they mess up they hear it as well. I heardit you two guys heard it from your coaches I never wanted to be treated different. (Thanks Dan Cosgrove my coach)
John E.Shades, Harrison
Okay all of you guys saying Harrison won’t be at the top of A your out of your minds. I just graduated from Mahiopac and I scrimmaged those guys two years in a row and their big and know how to hit. I hate them I really do, but you can’t doubt how good they are. Somers has two great players and thats it, it takes 11 people to be successful on a football field not 2.
And for all this talk about the super 11, why is Just Autera of Mahopac not mentioned? I know I was his teammate and I may be biased, but the kid runs a 4.5 fourty, squats nearly 500 lbs and can deadlift nearly 600 and hes only 180 lbs. He has torn teams apart and ran for 1300 last season, and he was hurt for the last 4 games! He is going to run for at least 1500 behind Mahopacs O-line this year. Give credit were credit is due, he was one of the best running backs last year as a junior, he damn well may be the best this year.
watch out for john jay. i was at there camp this week watching them vs carmal. They were killing carmal on the offensive side of the ball. there line is small and quick. there pretty balanced on each side but the right side of the ball is deff better. on defense they need to work on alot of things. watch out for john jay you never know with them.
section 1 guy, i agree harrison can hit and run all over opponets in the first half thats for sure, but for them to finish on top in class a they have to finish games out which they didnt last year, games like Eastchester winning at half lost by hail mary in the 4th, Rye winning 7-0 in at the end of half didnt get it done in the 2nd half. the only game they were losing that in the 2nd half last season was nyack. No doubt harrison can finish at the top like mostly every year. but in order to do that they have to bury teams in the 2nd half, instead of beating spring valley 26-8 it has to be 49-0 like the 06 huskies. But if they want to beat rye they have to play to win and not play to not lose shown in the past 2 years.
