With schools on winter break this week, I decided to send my wife (a teacher) on a trip to the Caribbean with her cousin. She gets to relax in the sun. I get to watch basketball, not make the bed, leave the toilet seat up and eat grilled cheeses and cookies at 2 a.m.

I am, though, a little lost without her. For example, she’s been gone for only two days and something in the fridge really smells bad. I can’t figure out what it is. I also ran out of dish soap last night and had no clue what to do. I also realized that American Idol was on last night. Since she wasn’t home to watch it, I couldn’t sit in the living room and pretend not to watch. And God forbid I had to do any laundry. I’d be a dead man.

This week has officially proven that I’ve become a helpless husband (kids, if you don’t know what that means, just ask mom. They’ll explain). Anyway, if you notice this week that I’m wearing mis-matched socks or have a big iron stain on my shirt, you’ll understand why.

Anyway, I’m writing this not to expose my ignorance to household chores, but to remind everyone that the Varsity Central Extra show is on tonight at 6:30 p.m. on RNN.

This just reminded me, too, that with my wife out of town, I have nobody to apply my make-up. Did I just say I wear make-up? I mean… uhh… I don’t.
