Rockland basketball guru Jeff Gold and I sat down and recorded a podcast on next week’s games at the County Center.
It’s pretty lengthy, but we go through every game starting from Class C and working our way up. We dedicate about five minutes to each conference.

Great job as always. Is it just me or is anyone else upset at the way the County Center Schedule was put together? I have nothing against the girls, but ever since they have moved their tournament to the County Center the schedule has been terrible. For example, the Class A teams played their quarterfinals on Tuesday and don't play again until next Friday. Plus, Peekskill, the Number 1 seed gets stuck playing at 3:30 when most fans will be at work. Why do the girls get the showcase games during the week until the Finals? I think they need to change the way they schedule these games or change the girls back to having their tournament somewhere else. It is hard to schedule all of these games in one week and the girls games just complicate things. Thank God there is no Class D Tournament.
Good stuff… For Jeff, there is no aura of MV in PK… Yeah, we've never beaten them but the dislike is potent…
The County Center schedule is a disgrace. But what would you expect from a group who allows very fat incompetent referees to destroy the hopes and dreams of many high school basketball players..
Girls teams will have family and friends and schoolmates attend the games whenever, even on alternating days with the boys games…......So why won't the fools who make the schedule acknowledge that there are games that "many" tax paying residents of the region want to see? Don't give me that crowd control baloney. Big arenas all around the country know how to have an event without incident…I have confidence in the Westchester County PD to keep us all safe….Stop this politically correct nonsense that forces the fans to miss games of special interest!

PR can't do anything about it. They are one of the shortest teams in the section. They'll only win if they can shoot at least 70% from 3.

Kevin, be ready for an Albertus upset.. I dont think you have seen them play, and when they have all their players healthy theyre way better than you think

After reading the comments from AMHS its apparent that they didnt and continue not to do their homework. They were hoping beyond hope for a Lincoln Hall victory that didnt happen.

Pville finishes 3-2 against Rockland, with 2 wins being against Rockland's bottom 2 team Nanuet.

They beat Suffern before the team got together to go it's run. Looking at the whole season, Suffern has not been the best team here.
Pville lost to TZ which everyone wants to forget. They lost to Magnus even though the entire county of Westchester thought Pville would win. Just keep going guys. I'm loving your ignorance.
All im saying is that everyone sees Albertus as the joke of section one, and when they play good they can beat any class B team. And its funny how the Bcliff fans stayed all quiet and didnt back their team up before they played Lincoln Hall bc they actually mite lose (as they did a few weeks ago at home!). They won and now, once again, they are the best team this side of the Mason-Dixon line, just bc Lincoln Hall is out of the picture.
I just want people to know that Albertus Magnus can beat Briarcliff and they are a better team. A team who man-handled Lincoln Hall.

Dude, your drinking way too much AMHS cool-aide, I think you should wait and see if you can play with someone before you say you can beat them. Briarcliff beat Lincoln Hall when it mattered by 14 and ended their season(for the second year in a row). They also beat them at LH by 9 and beat them in the CC last year. Lincoln Hall was a very tough team that as Their coach said"gave the Bears a wake up call".
There is difference between backing your team and making dumb claims about beating a team you havent played or beaten. Just what are you basing your claims of being better than Briarcliff on? Certainly not last years matchup, when you got smoked at Briarcliff.lol!
well ive seen briarcliff and magnus both play, and i feel that both teams are very good.. I feel that Briarcliff has better talent. With that being said, Magnus, when playing well, can beat the bears. I think this game should be a good one. And dont forget,,,,its high school, any team can beat another team on any given day,,, so we'll see
I agree go rockland guy, Pearl River is going to have to score WAY more than 37 points to beat Port Chester. That was one ugly game against Pelham!
All I'm gonna say is that if Briarcliff underestimates Albertus the Falcons can def. win. I think they can win anyway but Briarcliff can not take them lightly.

What are some of the common opponents for Briarcliff and Magnus and are both teams 100% healthy- Unfortunately Lombardi has been getting dinged up (The cut at Stepinac and the ankle in the Iona scrimmage). If he is healthy and ready to play then Briarcliff will be a tough out for any Class B school.

As someone who has seen The Bears I think you get a sense of what they are. Having Scrimmaged Iona Prep, played Stepinac twice, and Hayes(when Hayes was at ull strength).
The Bears all kidding aside will not be taking ANYBODY lightly at this point. Magnus or anybody else!
They will bring it for 32 minutes every game until there are no more games ! JO LO is ready to go !
Bear Essentials
As an Iona fan who counts all our fierce rivals in the CHSAA I am able to sit back and enjoy watching some of the section 1 public schools play this year. I have seen Briarcliff against all the CHSAA teams this year (Hayes, Stepinac twice and the Iona scrimmage) plus last year against a good Rye team and it is clear that unless something unforseen occurs then Briarcliff should get to the Federation.
In looking at Class B I noticed there is a team Ogdensburg Free Academy that will be the toughest opponent from the New York State Public side. Bishop Ford played them in a holiday tournament and beat them by about 10 points. Bishop Ford is probably the toughest team in the CHSAA A. Iona will have to beat them in the CHSAA A City playoffs. Poly Prep, Acorn Academy (PSAL) would be the probable teams in the Federation Finals. Lets hope we see each other in Glen Falls!!
Iona is back to full strength for the playoffs. Voelkel played the 1st half against Regis Wed when they opened up a 20 point lead…..Iona now is the #1 seed and will play whichever team advances as the 8th seed Sat 3/1 at Mt St Michael…..Today Iona will scrimmage Scarsdale. They were scheduled to scrimmage White Plains today, but it was cancelled after the Poughkeepsie victory…

Have you seen Portcheser play? Their most potent offense is not Henriq it is King and Cordero that will kill you while your considering Larizza and Henrig. Yes Henriq will try to get that one or two slams or alley opps for effect but he is not their offense. PR when they are on, score a great deal on their cuts inside and overall effort. It will be extremely difficult to do that with Henriq inside. He will either alter the shot or outright block it. I wish all luck to PR but it will not be an easy task. Also the lack of A class competition this season will I fear become apparent. They will not get the chance to shoot the 70% unless Portchester underestimates the PR will. This year that has not happened as in the past with PC nor has foul trouble. Good Luck PR
i think briarcliff fans are ridiculously ignorant. magnus stands a chance.. a good one at that… they may not have as much talent but they play hard and run up and down the court at a pace briarcliff is uncomfortable at.

I heard your whole team is head cases, Leroy should start over Fuchs and ofcourse dont forget daddys little boy. There are at least two kids on your bench better than daddys boy…bu they dont get the PT..Eddie McGuinnes did the right thing getting out of that soap opera. He is much better than any of those guards and didnt want to put up with the family affair.

Pace? I saw Magnus play Nanuet, It was like watching paint dry. All your talk of crushing P'Ville and how they were going to get smoked…lol. You barely got by them in your own gym !

First of all, AMHS, the game will not be what people expect… I agree… but only because people expect it to be close! The Bears are too big, too physical, and too talented for any team in Class B. If you saw them play in that game against Lincoln Hall, you would see how focused they are and if you read the papers, they're not taking anybody lightly, but they could take AM lightly, cuz they're gonna blow them out of the water… The Bears love to push the ball, so i don't know what you're saying about pacing… The Bears even have the experience in the County Center!!! something the Falcons don't have, so goodbye to AM and all of their stuck-up no-nothing fans…

Magnus can no doubt win but it will not be easy. Magnus has always been a class act in basketball going back decades. Hard working players who give the all. They have improved a great deal over the course of this season. As with PR the task is not an easy one but it can be done. There is no more soap opera at Magnus then there is in many schools. Many times the opera is much worse with coaches who have no relatives involved and play the opera. Briarcliff may not in fact get run out of the gym or tired since there 5 can… yes go the distance. But Magnus can throw fresh players in the mix and get that 6th man spurt from those multiple players. It has worked before and can again. It will take that, and some. Magnus does not miss McGuinness so much as the Pearl River Pirates would if he had not made the switch. It will be a closer game then you think Big R. Go Falcons bring it to the Roc.

AM played well against P'ville (who didn't play their game). They have zero chance vs. the Bears from Briarcliff. B'cliff is way too physical and fast for Magnus to handle. And no I am not from Briarcliff.
Also, Magnus fans will not be able to make any noise in the large arena of the County Center. After all, they only bring about 200 people to the game.

I heard Iona played very well against Scarsdale yesterday in a scrimmage. It looks like Iona will have St. John's Prep or St. Edmunds in the Quarters. They also avoid Cardinal Hayes and Bishop Ford until the finals.
A healthy Iona will be hard to beat-
not sure if you read the paper today, butt magnus's fans were voted best in Class B

Iona did play exceptionally well vs Scarsdale in the scrimmage. They also looked to be back in true form last Wed vs Regis. That game was over by half time…Like most teams ,however, they can not win at this time of year without their top players…The seeding gods have been very good to Iona ..Ford and Hayes are on the opposite side of the bracket…..The semi-final game looks like it may be Mount or Stepinac…...But let's take it one game at a time..

It would be great if the Basketball team follows up on the Hockey team taking home the championship this past week.

If you were smart you would know that Bardonia consists of about three blocks so no none of them are from Bardonia..any kid that has gone to a catholic grammar school in Rockland goes to Albertus because they are the only catholic high school in Rockland so there is no recruiting involved..come on people get with the program here.
