I'm thinking that Iona Prep could beat any team mentioned in the previous 150 posts???? It is all about team depth and most of these teams go 2 or 3 deep?...Tony Taylor had no chance against Iona tonight by himself......

Wow 150 responses. I think we should call players overrated more often. jk.
PR should win. Magnus and Nanuet won't beat them. Maybe TZ could. I'm no expert on any of the teams . I'm a MV fan. But I try to follow as many teams as I can through the blogs and paper. I just made 1 comment on this Magnus/Bcliff/PR thing and I found myself completely involved in it. Funny how things work.

Its more than fair to say that without McGuinness, it might be PR scrambling to make the playoffs at 6-6 and Magnus at 10-1...and along with Magnus I believe PR lost at Briarcliif last year as well.

What is your Prediction for the Nanuet Tournament?

This started because we were talking about where McGuiness would get the most exposure. Winning the section and going to states gets you the most exposure. So technically you need to play the "what if" card and put McGuiness on the current Magnus team and then see how they would do in winning the section.

Yes all this talk may be all for naught but it's some good discussion which is what the blogs are for.

Comprehend
Don't go by records. Has PR played any team even close to the talent of Peekskill? No.

And roads to the county center is irrelevant. We're just talking about 2 match-ups. Nothing else.

"I think the point was Briarcliff just might have more of a Physical Advantage over Magnus than Peek does over Pearl River."

There is no way that is true unless Mookie, Watts, and Wattson all just transfered. I'm sure others can back me up on this.

read

How does Magnus have a Better chance of beating Briarcliff than Pearl River does of beating Peekskil when:

1)Pearl River Has qualified for playoffs
2)Pearl River will likely be a 2 seed(2 home games or a bye and 1 home game)
3)Pearl would likely have an easier road to get to Peekskill and it would be in the Finals(avoid having to "possibly" beat Port Chester first)
4) Magnus has yet to qualify for playoffs, likely to go 1-1 in Nanuet Tournament(a must)could go 0-2(distinct possibility and a disaster)and end up at 6-8 on the season.
5) If they qualify, they will likely have two win 2 road playoff games to get to the CC and even have a shot a Briarcliff, with the possibily of having to beat North Salem(who they dont match up well with) who will likely finish 19-1 or 18-2.

The point was never that Magnus will beat Briarcliff, the point being made was that Magnus has a better shot at beating Briarcliff than Pearl River does at beating Peekskill.

Whats all this talk of beating Briarcliff? The teams in Class "B" at this point need to concentrate on beating the teams in front of them right now!

ie: Magnus has alot of tough games to play before(and if) they ever play Briarcliff. Worry about winning games and getting a good seed. A team that has to beat Lincoln Hall, North Salem and Briarcliff all on the road(or in the CC) is in Big Trouble!

Magnus did not even make the playoffs last year! I know they are a good team but trust me playoff Basketball is different, and if your counting on "Good or Hot shooting" to win ...well...good luck but it doesnt happen very often.

Knight Fan,

I think the point was Briarcliff just might have more of a Physical Advantage over Magnus than Peek does over Pearl River. First of all Brickhouse is about 5'6" although he is likely better(much) than the PR point guard its certainly not a physical mismatch for PR.. There is much more to Physical mismatches than just height! Much more!
